Obama Administration to Sign U.N. Arms Trade Treaty "In the Very Near Future"
NRA-ILA ^ | 05/17/2013 | staff reporter

As we reported last month, on April 2, the United Nations General Assembly voted 153-4 to pass the Arms Trade Treaty, with the United States voting in favor and several countries abstaining. The vote in the General Assembly pushed the treaty process forward after negotiations twice failed to deliver on the goal of developing the treaty by consensus. The Obama Administration is expected to sign the treaty soon after it is opened for signature on June 3.

According to a May 16 Amnesty International article, a senior US diplomat--Assistant Secretary of State Thomas Countryman--has confirmed the U.S. government will be quick to sign the new treaty. According to the article, Countryman said on Wednesday that the United States would sign the ATT "in the very near future."

If the deeply problematic treaty is signed, the fight will move to the U.S. Senate, where the Obama administration would need to find 67 senators to ratify the treaty.

Of course, anti-gun Amnesty International approves of the treaty and is advocating its signing and ratification. In addition, Amnesty International has gone so far as to claim that the treaty will not affect "domestic gun control regulations."

“Assistant Secretary of State Thomas Countryman—has confirmed the U.S. government will be quick to sign the new treaty.”

Make it clear to this Nazi prick that he’s persona non grata, and if he sets foot in any patriot state, he will be arrested for treason, found guilty and hanged.

With the GOP going Amnesty Liberal.... don’t think they will not cave on gun control, too

Open Borders and Gun Confiscation are major parts of the UN agenda

“In addition, Amnesty International has gone so far as to claim that the treaty will not affect “domestic gun control regulations.”

I’m not worried about it effecting gun control laws....I’m worried about it effecting gun ownership!

Obama signing this treaty is in conflict with the Constitution...I know, I know....he hasn’t ever followed the Constitution before so why start now? It gets killed in the Senate anyway......I hope and pray. When is the Obama Impeachment Trial scheduled to start? Say What?????

King Obama is working to finish converting America to a communists Country with him as dictator and join the communists world. The UN is made up of mostly dictatorships which many are communists.

nobama can sign the treaty until he’s blue in the face, to match his lips. But until the treaty is ratified by 2/3 of the Senate (highly unlikely), it ain’t worth the paper it’s written on.

There is another worry here. In recent years, presidents have tried to avoid the senate completely by declaring that “treaties are not treaties”, but just “agreements” or another such euphemism, that do not require senate approval, even though they have the force of treaties.

In other words, they have been cheating, mostly for the cause of internationalism. They figure that after the US has been party to the “non-treaty” long enough, it will be too much hassle to withdraw from it.

More than 50 senators signed a petition months ago indicating their opposition to the ATT, and the treaty requires a yes vote by 67 of the 100 senators. Some treaty proponents suggest that the fact that Iran, North Korea, and Syria were the only nations to vote against the treaty might make some senators rethink their opposition.

Obozo will sign the treaty to prove to the rest of the world he really deserves his Nobel Peace Prize. He knows full well the Senate will never ratify it. This is the same situation Wilson faced with the ratification of the League of Nations treaty. The League of Nations didn't prevent the rise of Nazi Germany. The United Nations is an impotent joke.
