IRS Oversight Board Admits Inappropriate Targeting and Breakdown of the Processing System

Treasury has not one, but at least two departments tasked with keeping an eye on the IRS. We’ve heard from Treasury’s Inspector General already in his report released this week. Now, the IRS Oversight Board has chimed in. The Oversight Board is a nine-member independent body charged to oversee the IRS in its administration, management, conduct, direction, and supervision of the execution and application of the internal revenue laws. The Secretary of Treasury and the Commissioner of Internal Revenue are members of the Board.

Today the IRS Oversight Board released this statement:

The IRS Oversight Board is deeply troubled by IRS conduct described in the May 14 Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA) report1. This behavior by a few individuals does a great disservice to the vast majority of IRS employees who discharge their duties within the letter and spirit of the law.

The use of inappropriate criteria to identify organizations applying for tax-exempt status indicates, in the Board’s opinion, a breakdown in the business processing system of the IRS. This breakdown erodes taxpayers’ faith in the integrity and fairness of that system and our public institutions at large. Moreover, during the reported timeline, IRS leadership never informed the Board of the change in its new criteria, although there were regular opportunities to properly brief the Board on this matter.....

Great job, Oversight Board. You are as useful as mammary glands on a bull. I call for your resignations.

"The use of inappropriate criteria to identify organizations applying for tax-exempt status indicates, in the Board’s opinion, a breakdown in the business processing system of the IRS."

"inappropriate criteria to identify"

Oh no, it was very appropriate to successfully identify political enemies.

"a breakdown in the business processing system"

There was no breakdown. It did what it was suppose to do. The identification was necessary to the processing system of harassed and intimidation. How else would the FBI, ATF, and OSHA had to know where to go?

Frank VanderSloot said on o Reilly that his and eight other names appeared on the Obama campaign website. Then news people and far left website picked up the mantra.

Much harassment via emails. Visit of a Michael Wolf whose website claimed a senate connection followed by:
Three audits by IRS one bT dept of labor

Would like to know who encouraged the senators to write IRS. Was it connected to funding for them

Point is: it’s not just T party and not just IRS

What is is is the opening volley against Ft. Sumter. The bombing of Pearl Harbor. The attack on the folks at Lexington. This is the opening salvo in Civil War. This is aggression, pure, simple, naked and raw against us by people who would in public claim to be our fellow citizens whilst in the darkness conspiring against us to achieve through deceit and perfidy what they could not through integrity and honesty. They no longer deserve to be considered as any kind of peer or colleague . They are openly flouting morality, law, integrity, and any other virtue that would cause us to embrace them. Now or later we will of necessity be required by nature itself and as Jefferson said Nature’s God to respond. We did not seek this but it has sought us. God help us.

+1

To Hell with this agency!

But they are not the only agency that was acting in such a biased and illegal manner.

...during the reported timeline, IRS leadership never informed the Board of the change in its new criteria..."

Yet another CYA by government officials whose responsibility it is to ensure the integrity and honesty of our powerful federal institutions.

What the hell is the point of an 'oversight' board that doesn't look over the shoulders of those they're tasked with watching?

Just what do they do to earn their paychecks? Sit and wait for agencies to TELL them what they're doing wrong?

Good grief!

I know. It’s insane. Criminally insane.

I’ve read so many articles I can’t keep track of them all but the one about a tea-party lady who got a visit from the FBI, ATF, OSHA, several audits - not only of the tea party organization but her personal business, and a $5000 fine really takes the cake for me.

Each story is worse than the last.

Where in hell have the "Oversight Board" and it's nine member overpaid government hacks been?

"Seven Board members are appointed by the President of the United States and confirmed by the Senate for five-year terms. These members have professional experience or expertise in key business and tax administration areas. Of the seven, one must be a full-time federal employee or a representative of IRS employees. The Secretary of Treasury and the Commissioner of Internal Revenue are also members of the Board. "

Knowing WHO they are helps understand 'WHERE' they were.

Frank VanderSloot audit.

What percentage of IRS employees are members of the NTEU?

What percentage of IRS employees are Obama contributors?

“Will no one rid me of this (fill in the blank)” syndrome...

There will be no rank-and-file IRS whistleblowers on this, because they all agree with what was done.

Mess with the IRS: penalties, interest and possible prison.
IRS ‘earls’ heed King O: “Will no one rid me of this turbulent tea-party?!” and mess with you?
“Nothing to see here,”
followed by, “OK, maybe inappropriate,
but by zealous, loose-cannon, low-level drones. The king knew nothing, no apologies.
(Get serious. We mean, really... “We” in the imperious, capricious government agency with virtually unbridled power sense. Not in His Majesty’s sense. We just wanted to make that clear. OK?)

Now get back to work, villains—due to the Affordable Care Act, ‘Tax Freedom Day’ has been changed from April 18 to May 29. Then you can start keeping your earnings.
Welcome to the IRS. We love you. Now, go away and fear us—Open your big yap and we’re coming for you next.”

We are finding out exactly what the word “service” means in Internal Revenue Service. It means serving up intimidation, harassment, and terror.

What is significant about VanderSloot he has the connection with 0 campaign organization initiating the harassment not just for him but eight others. If this Wolf guy is who I pulled up it goes him in with the Senators who wrote the letters to Irs
