I've been all over this state. But have never heard of Venezuela Texas? Must be in the panhandle...

Routine for getting in your car in Latin America:

1. Scan for threats.

2. If you have a keyles entry system good but don't hit it until you are ready to grab the door handle. Most of them make a "come hither car jacker" noise.

3. Open door, sit down, start engine, put the car in gear, scan for threats - front and back.

4. Take off the parking break and Move out fast.

6. Fasten seat belt, turn on windshield wipers, tune radio, etc. while moving.

Looks like he had a lot of situational awareness down.

Plus it took him less than 3 seconds from the time the perp was at his door to start firing. I believe he was 3 for 3.

I got the feeling the guy smelled a rat from the beginning. He even initially seemed to forget to lock the door and had to turn around and go back. Then, right after he got into his car he immediately had his gun in his hand.

Good points but you forgot to lock the doors....unless there’s an automatic door lock.

Not really a “rude awakening”. More like a permanent “big sleep”.

The perp was still moving and the guy already had his hand coming out of the window at him. He was very ready.

Where did this take place? Awesome self-defense demonstration. Notice how the accomplice, instead of pulling up and trying to shoot the guy (and he had the cover of the corner), just ran. lol

I'm thinking given the vehicle and the country, this guy is probably in the upper economic class, and smart, both business and street -wise. And Venezuela having one of the world's highest violent crime rates, he would be constantly aware that he is a high profile target for thieves and kidnappers.

Yeah saw that, but was doubtful because I didn’t think Venezuela allowed private ownership of arms.

A license is required but self-defense is a valid reason.

In my experience, in most 3rd world countries, the rich and powerful don’t have any problem legally owning arms, or face only nominal punishment if they are not legal.
