Here’s a hint - if there was really a consensus, we wouldn’t need UN consensus committees.

Let us suppose that the temperature of the earth’s atmosphere is rising, that the numbers so indicate.

Why should we believe that carbon dioxide, or any other gaseous component of the atmosphere is the cause?

Now I'm confused. Sheldon tells me, Have you noticed those warming, rising seas? Do you understand that carbon in the atmosphere gets absorbed by the sea, and that that is a law of science and is not debatable? Do you understand that because they are absorbing the carbon the oceans are getting more acidic? Thirty percent more acidic already and climbing? Do you understand that's a measurement, not a theory?

The scientists on the warmists payrolls tell us that warming oceans release CO2 while cooling oceans absorb it. But Sheldon is saying the exact opposite and mocking republicans as being unscientific. How can Sheldon be a denier of science facts of the very scientists he is lauding?

He sounds kind of stupid.

"Our planet has had a run of at least 800,000 years with levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere between 170 and 300 ppm. That’s measurement; not theory. Eight hundred thousand years. Homo sapiens have only been around for about 200,000 years, so that 800,000 years—8,000 centuries—takes you back a ways. Eight hundred thousand years between 170 and 300 ppm, and in just the last 50 years we’ve blown out of that range, and have now hit 400 ppm and climbing"

Really Sheldon? Humans have been around for 200,000 years? And they were taking measurements of CO2 levels at the time? Not hunting for food or anything. Just sitting around measuring CO2 levels. And these ancient humans were SO precise in their measurements that you can take their data to the bank.

Even more amazing is that these pre-historic humans "caused" CO2 to go from 170ppm to 300ppm BEFORE SUVs? What are you some kind of creationist?

Have you noticed the floods and wildfires and droughts and superstorms and tornadoes and blizzards and temperature records?

I have noticed a lot of low temperature records lately. Even the first snow in May in Arkansas on record (although not a blizzard). I also notice the strong La Nina jet causing tornadoes in 2011 and the push of dry air that caused them yesterday. Did global warming cause that push of drier cooler air? I also notice that tornadoes peak in spring and fall with a lull in the summer. Why would warmer summers cause fewer tornadoes? Why have strong tornadoes been decreasing since the late 1800's and early 1900's (when we were coming out of the Little Ice Age)?

Cooling is our enemy. Cooling and idiots like the senator from RI.

CO2 is released by warming oceans but the (mostly natural) rise of 1C would have caused 5-10 ppm of CO2 to be released. Instead the oceans are absorbing CO2 rather than releasing it. At least that is the best explanation of where CO2 is going after fossil fuel burning creates it. That and biosphere expansion but the biosphere includes ocean algae that like that extra CO2.

Yo, Shelly.
Your ignoarnt little rant might approach relevance except for the inconvenient facts that global temperatures have been in decline for ~15 years and the junk scientists at the heart of the computer climate models that predicted the "hockey stick" have been busted for lying years ago now.
Do try to keep up.

Sheldon Whitehouse has a history of mental disorder. Check out his 2009 SPEECH in which he compares GOP opposition to ObamaCare to Kristallnacht and lynchings.
