PRUDEN: Mr. Obama and green persimmons
The Washington Times ^ | 21 May 2013 | Wes Pruden

Posted on 05/21/2013 6:49:53 AM PDT by COBOL2Java

The Republicans who can’t wait to talk impeachment should sit down, shut up, and be patient. President Obama may yet deserve impeachment, but we’re not there yet. Patience, as anyone old enough to remember Watergate knows, is how this game is played.

Republicans tempted to reach too far too soon should remember that when impeachable presidents, like persimmons, are picked green, they’re inedible. Once ripened, they’re delicious.

Like guilty presidents finally run to ground, ripe persimmons can be eaten fresh, dried, raw, or cooked. Properly ripened persimmons have the texture of pudding, with no risk of becoming “a pudding without a theme,” as Winston Churchill once complained of a dessert unfit for a prime minister. The flesh of a mature persimmon, like a mature presidential scandal, is very sweet on the tongues of a president’s enemies.

Green persimmons, bitter and acidic, only inflict the pain of an unexpected pucker. It’s important to pick neither persimmon nor scandal before its time.

Republicans, on the run only a month ago with no sure strategy for stopping President Obama’s runaway second term, with Attorney Gen. Eric Holder holding his horse, now have a surfeit of scandals, particularly satisfying since it’s served up by a reluctant mainstream media. If you’re weary of Benghazi, there’s the tasty pursuit of uppity journalists. You can sample a little of the latest Benghazi salad or sauteed journalist while anticipating the main course, deep-fried tax collector. Or you can shake up all three scandals and change the order on the menu for tomorrow. There’s a new delight coming out of the kitchen almost on the hour.

The mainstream media, so called, thought it had the Benghazi scandal safely bottled up until the other two broke.

There seem to be no end to columns today waning Republicans away from thinking about impeachment. It almost seems like an assigned topic.

Hmmmmmmmm.

Perhaps we should think harder about it. Or not.

The Watergate break-in occured on June 7, 1972. Nixon resigned on Aug 9, 1974. It took over two years.

Oh, yes. I remember. That is why I think we should throw everything we have against this administration. Keep them off base — one scandal after the other. And when we run out of scandals, start over.

I get suspicious when I see 5 or 6 articles warning against impeachment. I’m not saying that we should expect impeachment, but we shouldn’t stop talking about it.

There are still too many people out there who can’t see the forest for the trees, like the Weather Bunny on the Weather Channel who breathlessly said this morning, “When have you EVER seen a President declare a disaster area as quickly as this one?” Oh, barf!

Impeach the black man? This is crazy talk. If it’s done, it has to be done by the democrats. I say expose everything and ley the stink fill the air until the D’s can’t stand it anymore. If they ignore the smell and let is fester till 2016 then they will pay a hugh price.

Let's hope that whatever the Republicans do, they DO NOT listen to this man:

Excellent reminder. My gut feeling is Republicans have the goods already but are waiting for Team O to back themselves into a corner with whatever story they're going to use.

Think of this as a chess match. There are often many moves that must be made in order to achieve Check Mate.

Ol’ “Turd Blossom” looks like he’s puckered up on a green persimmon, there.

I don’t see Pruden warning *against impeachment* in this piece... rather, warning against going off half-cocked.

What he says makes sense to me, but that’s just me, YMMV.

I heard Rush ranting against the idea of impeachment yesterday when I was mowing my grass. I admit that Pruden is usually pretty good, and I read only the headline. I still say we should hit him with all we’ve got and keep them dancing.

Impeachment, so what. Slick willy was impeached and stayed in office and still touted to be a great president by the moron faction. Until the Senate is controlled by R’s nothing will happen and maybe not even if that was the scenario.

“Impeach the black man? This is crazy talk.”

Makes perfect sense because it will never happen.

Not only will blacks rise to his defense, so will all those getting govt freebies, as well as the millions of low information democrat voters that will believe all the BS the media will say in his defense. Then we have the green eco-whacko nutcase crowd to defend him. obama could be a proven murderer and child molester, and as long as he denied it, all those mentioned would defend him.

Even if he ever admitted to any wrong doings, many lefties would defend him in the name of the greater good he is doing for their agendas.

Dear Wes: four American citizens, including a United States Ambassador who represented all of us, were murdered in Benghazi while we waited for someone to do something about the out-of-control Obama administration. We have four more Americans murdered in Boston while we wait for somebody to do something about the out-of-control Obama administration. Believe me, I despise the Democrat party and would like to see them take a shellacking in 2014 and 2016. I am, however, an American and I’m getting sick of waiting for somebody to do something about the out-of-control Obama regime. How many American citizens have to be murdered before we get serious about Obama? Oh, and you appear to be sadly deficient in your education. An impeachment proceeding is as much a formal investigation as it is anything else. And as one who has been advocating a fact-finding impeachment proceeding, you can stick those sour persimmons up your ass. Love and kisses,

Instead of putting it here, why don't you put your comment to him on The Washington Times Comment Page (just scroll to the bottom and click on the link)? I'm sure Wes would be interested in your opinion.

Evidently, Wes should be reading Free Republic. He seems to be somewhat confused.

We should think about impeaching the Democrat Party and Marxist Progressives.

Honestly, I don't believe we can impeach Obama. The whole world would circle its wagons. But, we can weaken him.
