Not everyone agrees on how immigration reform should be handled but most real estate professionals agree it could be a good thing for their industry. According to the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals (NAHREP), allowing a path for the legalization of undocumented immigrants could mean $500 billion in new real estate transactions. NAHREP estimates that about half of the estimated 6 million undocumented immigrants presently in the country and likely to pursue legalization and citizenship would also pursue homeownership. That estimate is based on patterns of naturalized Latinos already in the country. Foreign-born householders have a high value and strong desire for homeownership, explained NAHREP president Juan Martinez[1]. The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) also supports the creation of this new and likely-eager population of homeowners, estimating that the new real estate potential could create $28 billion in income for the real estate community.
Analysts say that not only would individual real estate professionals benefit from this new population of homebuyers, but big companies like Toll Brothers and D.R. Horton would likely enjoy the results of the creation of a new homeowning population as well. Appliance, furniture, and paint vendors also are hoping for effective immigration reform, with companies like Ethan Allen Interiors, Sherwin Williams, and Whirlpool hoping to reap high sales numbers as a result of the changed policies[2].
Do you think immigration reform is necessary? Do you hope it happens soon for the sake of your business or your real estate investments?
Down we go.
Well, then by all means let's pass this gigantic load of crap.
How silly my objections seem in retrospect.
If there is such a boom, it will likely be because foreign nationals earned the money to support it here, at the expense of citizens who were out of work.
Wouldn’t it be nice if U. S. Citizens were able to participate in that boom?
Evidently not!
Again, it’s all about the money. It’s nothing but a money reallocation.
Where is the barf alert or the leftist propaganda alert on this bs article?
The answer to illegal immigration is self-deportation.
Sellout our freedom for the real estate market? No thanks!
Just what we need. Three or four Mexican families living in the house next door, playing their miserable music full bore in the wee hours of the morning, trashing their yard and raising gang members. We lived in a “changing neighborhood” in San Antonio and fortunately were able to flee before the gang violence began there.
The influx of crimigrants would mean folks like me selling, and downsizing out of the burbs, where I pay taxes so that these criminaliens can buy these properties, to a small Agenda-21 ICLEI-like city flat, where I can still pay taxes to support them in their new homes.
Is this like Settled Real-Estate?
Sounds so settled-science-ish.
Since about 35 of them live in each single family home, I doubt the amount will be that high.
Last time I checked the illeagals were not the type to be buying real Estate. The only industry that will see a big increase is the welfare!
Sorry our sovereignty isn’t for sale.
You nailed it!
Headline I always wanted to see;
“House Trailer Burns Down, Thousands Homeless.”
Holding out the imaginary carrot.
“Make millions by supporting our legislation.”
Same tactic the democrats used to get various businesses to back Obamacare.
That's the important thing.
