I agree that it was a compromise in the name of pragmatism. And as I’ve stated many times in this thread, it was a bad mistake and I too will be interested to see the repercussions. I suspect if they don’t reverse it soon, it will start a faster decline in scouting.
Having said that, I don’t think it was anything but a mistake. A bad one, but not an evil intent on the part of the scouts. Oh sure, in any organization that big, there are some infiltrators who no doubt nudged it along, but I don’t think that’s the majority of those who ended up supporting it.
maybe so, useful idiots in a sense. That’s different than evil collaboration.
compromise
So if they proposed molesting every kid in America for “educational” purposes, how would we compromise with that?
Compromising with evil, gets you evil.
Ah! Whether the intentions are evil or not the road still leads to hell.
There were many Useful Idiots voting for this BSA change. We should be very plain about that and the direction the Useful Idiots are leading the BSA and ( ultimately) our nation.
By the way....I’d even bet that many of those Useful Idiots voting for this change call themselves “conservative” and “Christian” and believe it.
maybe so, useful idiots in a sense.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Why the qualifier, “...in a sense...”?
They were and are Useful Idiots or they are not. If they are use the words that fit: Useful Idiot!
No, but get back to me if they ever propose that why don't you.....
Because useful idiots is more appropo for those who happily go along with stupid/wrong/bad/ or evil - and I think the BSA folks who did this did so with great trepidation and mixed feelings and did so out of fear or out of feeling like they had no other choice. I don't agree with any of that, but it is not the classic "useful idiot" usage....thus...."in a sense."
That is true, but of course, if you had read carefully, or at all, you would realize that was NOT the issue at all.
Ok! Then lets use the word that fits: Coward.
You know, I’m not going to take your bait. You know the FR bait, the one where you either go off the deep end or risk being accused of secretly down deep in some back room mysterious way of being a liberal collaborator. Just not biting, even though you keep dangling that out there. You’re just wrong.
But hey - you get back to me when you’ve run a great organization for over 100 years and then face 25 years of public pressure. Got it? Til then, cheerio......
I am not baiting you. I am merely speaking plainly.
Those who voted for the BSA change may indeed have been well meaning. They are Useful Idiots and/or cowards. They refused to stare down evil.
That is the fact with no “...In a sense...” about it.
Oh?
You'll have to be more specific.
you were doing both.
