After the Newtown massacre, President Barack Obama and many liberal politicians thought they were poised to enact dramatic gun control laws. Things haven't played out as they expected.
Gun control measures were first weakened and then defeated in the Democratic-controlled U.S. Senate, an embarrassing public relations debacle for the Obama administration. Liberals took some satisfaction in seeing gun control measures pass at the state level. In swing-state Colorado, lawmakers voted to restrict ammunition-magazine capacity, require background checks for all firearms sales and require gun buyers to pay for those background checks. Liberals warned that Colorado's embrace of gun control proved opponents were outside the mainstream and risked public blowback.
Now it turns out that Democrats who supported gun control in Colorado are the ones experiencing blowback, not the measures' opponents. Colorado Senate President John Morse faces the prospect of a recall election. A group called the Basic Freedom Defense Fund is seeking 7,178 signatures on a petition before a June 3 deadline to force a recall election.
No state senator has ever been recalled in Colorado. But polling commissioned by I Am Created Equal, a free-market women's group, found 34 percent of district voters supported Morse's recall while 29 percent were opposed; the rest were undecided. However, when respondents were told Morse sponsored a bill to make manufacturers and owners liable for crimes committed with their guns, 56 percent favored his recall. Both sides are raising funds in anticipation of a tough election race. Overall, up to four Colorado Democrats may face recall efforts after supporting gun control legislation.
In short, the gun control debate is playing out much as it did in the 1990s. The issue has motivated Second Amendment supporters and forced Democrats to play defense all because liberals insisted on advancing bills that most experts agree would have done nothing to prevent horrors like the Newtown killings.
The Dem/libs have been engaging in a steady push to infringe on our right to keep and bear arms for decades. And this is how it has been working out for them in the last two decades...
And in the last two months... (Nov. 2012 and Dec. 2012)
And it continues...
MOLON LAVE! WE SHALL BE ARMED. ;-)
They have lied so much that they can no longer see the truth.
I think Colo is pretty much a lost cause (based on the long term voting trends). They went from Bush +4 2004 to Obama +5.5 2012.
But I like hearing that Dems are having to play defense.
I think that what ahs happened is that obama has focused folks on the US Constitution.
If they really thought Americans would go for gun control they must be very stupid.
You've got that right, TigersEye. Let me add two thoughts, please:
1.) If leftist extremists were capable of learning from past mistakes, they'd stop being leftist extremists, grow up, and become patriots.
2.) The first lesson history teaches is very few people learn the obvious lessons of history.
Quite right on both points unfortunately. But while we should never let our guard down or stop fighting I think it’s good to keep in mind that there is no reason for despair. Beyond the MSM narrative the truth is that pro-gun policies have made a lot of progress and it’s because gun control is not really popular. Gun control policy only exists on a very shaky foundation of propaganda.
Can a recall be made for Toomey in Pennsylvania??
They thought the schools and television had finished their job of making America stupid.
Hades will freeze over before ANY democrat will get my money or my vote. These democrat people demonize law abiding gun owners. Democrats are masters of the smear. They do anything to win including selling out the US itself.

Colorado Ping ( Let me know if you wish to be added or removed from the list.)
Gun Issues. No apostrophe needed. It’s not a possessive.
Dems are surprised, especially their leaders, because most of them are wussies who expect “someone else” to take care of them. Those of us who take responsibility for our own lives take steps to protect ourselves. Not just guns. We work for a living, are prudent with our money, invest for our retirement. We buy medical insurance, car insurance, fire insurance when it makes financial sense to do so. We clean up after ourselves. We educate ourselves and our children. Gun ownership is just a tiny slice of what we do to take care of ourselves. But it’s an important slice and we will not have the ability of self-defense taken from us.
Can a recall be made for Obama in DC?
I would sign that in a heartbeat. Toomey needs to be primaried next election.
Had bumper stickers made already.
“Toss Toomey in 2016”
“He Lied”
“2A traitor”
I have been contacting their office everyday for the past 5 months so they have heard from me.
No recall in Pennsylvania.
