'Case exposes government system that is targeting military veterans' It happens in China routinely. It frequently happened in the old Soviet Union. Undoubtedly in North Korea, although generally theres no one around to witness it. But in the United States? It happens here, too, apparently. A lawsuit has been filed by officials with the Rutherford Institute on behalf of a Marine who was jailed and held for the comments he made on Facebook comments that expressed a dissatisfaction with the present direction of the U.S. government. According to officials at Rutherford, the civil rights action names as defendants members of law enforcement and the government who were involved in last years episode where Marine veteran Brandon Raub, 27, was arrested by a swarm of FBI and Secret Service and forcibly detained in a psychiatric ward for a week. His crime was posting controversial song lyrics and political views on Facebook, the institute reported. In one of his postings, he cited the evil in the world. The United States was meant to lead the charge against injustice, but through our example not our force. People do not respond to having liberty and freedom forced on them, he wrote. He was released later when a judge stepped in and concluded the prosecutions case against Raub was so devoid of any factual allegations that it could not be reasonably expected to give rise to a case or controversy. The lawsuit asks for damages for Raub for the attack he endured. It was filed in U.S. District Court in Richmond, Va., and claims Raubs seizure and detention were part of a plan executed by the Obama administration called Operation Vigilant Eagle. That, the institute explains, was a federal program to do surveillance on military veterans who express views critical of the government.

Don’t tell me America hasn’t become a police state. It has. This is bull****. What happened to the First Amendment?
Wait, I thought the cops wouldn’t enforce unconstitutional laws with gestapo tactics?
Nixon would not have done it or any other president because we actually had people that would have rebelled strongly against it but not today with the commie take over in our screws & media.
Dissension to the media selected boy-king will not be tolerated.
I also don’t recall Nixon appointing any of them as Sec State. There’s no statue of limitations on treason. Kerry’s conviction just requires an attorney general with pro-American guts and an American jury. The only thing good about appointing Kerry is that Massachusetts will have two eligible Senators for the first time since Chappaquiddick. Lunatics still, perhaps, but at least not felonious lunatics.
I thought there was a Military Code of Conduct that members of the military had to conform to. In effect it moved you from your Constitutional rights to the MCC. Just wondering/asking.
For Active duty yes but he is a veteran!
President Nixon, for all his faults, was a Navy veteran of World War II, a staunch anti-communist, an effective vice president, knew foreign policy, was a successful lawyer, a good legislator, a skilled politician, loved America, and was a good father and husband. I doubt that Mr. Obama is any of those things.
Obama isn’t even a Carter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wonder how john kerry and his conduct fits into all this? If hypocrisy was a barely audible whisper, you wouldn't be able to hear over the clamor it collectively makes in Washington DC.
Veterans a Focus of FBI Extremist Probe
By CAM SIMPSON and GARY FIELDS
WASHINGTON — The Federal Bureau of Investigation earlier this year launched a nationwide operation targeting white supremacists and “militia/sovereign-citizen extremist groups,” including a focus on veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan, according to memos sent from bureau headquarters to field offices.
The initiative, dubbed Operation Vigilant Eagle, was outlined in February, two months before a memo giving a similar warning was issued on April 7 by the Department of Homeland Security.
Disclosure of the DHS memo this week has sparked controversy among some conservatives and veterans groups. Appearing on television talk shows Thursday, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano defended the assessment, but apologized to veterans who saw it as an accusation.
“This is an assessment of things just to be wary of, not to infringe on constitutional rights, certainly not to malign our veterans,” she said on NBC’s Today Show.
The documents outlining Operation Vigilant Eagle cite a surge in activity by such groups. The memos say the FBI’s focus on veterans began as far back as December, during the final weeks of the Bush administration, when the bureau's domestic counterterrorism division formed a special joint working group with the Defense Department.
Then why are they hassling him?
I have no Idea I may be at risk as well! I have nothing good to say about the Obummer as well!
Lets hope he wins his law suit!
There is no comparison. None!
Nixon was a bit too big government for me, but I would not be upset if there were no government at all...
As a president he was as good or better than average.
His primary mistake in office was to record his conversations with others and failing to erase the tapes. This mistake was later used by the media to accuse him of doing things that were never done. Participating in exaggerated plots that were never hatched.
If you are wondering about Watergate, I'd ask you what the difference between what happened there and democrat operatives who recently shoved a I-phone in the record mode under the door of a office holding a republican strategy conference. Why was that not a huge issue and why is it off the front page. I could give you dozens more examples......but why bother. With the media beating and the loss of party support (republicans eat their own), he felt he had no choice but to resign, (a common republican expectation) for the good of the country.
As I said, there is no comparison to Obama who lies, distorts, plots against adversaries (there never was a Nixon enemies list, it's a myth) and has been doing it since his Chicago legislative days. It was that same group of Chicago Mafioso that he brought to DC. Now we are only beginning to peel that rotten stinkin onion back a layer at a time...only just now began that process.
Comparing him with Nixon is or should be a insult to every Republican and the memory of Nixon.
It's hard for me to believe that so many are so ill-informed on Nixon and have parroted the erroneous lib media stories for years now.
The lib media did to Nixon what they have done to all Republican and Conservatives by comparing them to a socialist Hitler and the Nazi regime during WWII. It's the same game!
When I see this comparison to Nixon, it makes me believe that there is no hope for the truth in this society. No hope at all. So we might as well let it burn.
Just blowing off some steam....don't take it personal because I am attacking the notion of the comparison, not you personally.
Gee, I guess me and my former Marine friends had better have our evil looking weapons Locked and Loaded! With one in the chamber and 30 rounds in the mag. and plenty of extra fully charged mags!
Twenty four loaded thirties here...
There are also baseless nonsense tax cases with refusals to communicate as attempts to harass individual conservative prior service members (severe negligence, extreme damage to truly pitiful victims with perfectly clean histories). Give it a few more weeks or months.
Nixon was corrupt as they could be. So was LBJ. Obama’s worse.
