Exclusive: John McCain Slips Across Border Into Syria, Meets With Rebels
The Daily Beast ^

Sen. John McCain Monday became the highest-ranking U.S. official to enter Syria since the bloody civil war there began over two years ago, The Daily Beast has learned.

McCain, one of the fiercest critics of the Obama administration’s Syria policy, made the unannounced visit across the Turkey-Syria border with Gen. Salem Idris, the leader of the Supreme Military Council of the Free Syrian Army. He stayed in the country for several hours before returning to Turkey. Both in Syria and Turkey, McCain and Idris met with assembled leaders of Free Syrian Army units that traveled from around the country to see the U.S. senator. Inside those meetings, rebel leaders called on the United States to step up its support to the Syrian armed opposition and provide them with heavy weapons, a no-fly zone, and airstrikes on the Syrian regime and the forces of Hezbollah, which is increasingly active in Syria.

So basically, near as I can tell, this is Saudi Arabia (Sunni) fighting against Iran (Shiite) in a proxy war.

As many have pointed out, US policy ought to be to do all we can so that they each bleed each other white as we did with the Iraq/Iran war in the 1980’s. OK, maybe we did give Iraq some help back then but again, maybe that was a mistake.

Instead we’re doing all we can to help the Saudi’s (Obama’s masters) under the guise of “humanitarian concerns”. McCain is probably taking orders from Obama. Him being “critical” of Obama is a bit like Code Pink being “critical”.

For a brief moment it was good to see John McCain and the word Slips in the same headline. The writer shouldn’t get people’s hopes up like that!

What a choice.

Support the Al-Qaeda backed Syrian rebels or the Iran Hezbollah government.

As has been mentioned in the past, let them fight it out and then we can go in and clear out the “winners”

That would fit fine with the WOT.

After all which ever side wins is Islamic terrorists and which ever side loses is also.

we wondered why Juan was not on Sunday talk shows...

Does he not know that he could be sodomized? (e.g. Kadaffi) or was that his mission?

Libya Deja Vu: Arming Syrian Rebels Likely to Usher in al Qaeda

http://townhall.com/columnists/rachelalexander/2013/05/27/libya-deja-vu-arming-syrian-rebels-likely-to-usher-in-al-qaeda-n1606923/page/full

“Rep. Peter King (R-NY) argued on CNN, “Unfortunately, to a large extent, al Qaeda elements have a lot of control within the rebel movements. My concern is that, by arming the rebels, we could be strengthening al Qaeda.” Iranian-backed militias and al Qaeda affiliates are likely infiltrating the rebel opposition, and the weapons could end up in their hands. After the U.S. intervened on behalf of insurgents in Libya in order to topple Muammar Gaddafi, al Qaeda gained a stronghold in the country, and there are now signs of al Qaeda everything, such as an al Qaeda flag flying above the central courthouse in Benghazi. “

Rand Paul: Senate Is Arming Al-Qaeda and Rushing to War in Syria

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3024297/posts

“During the hearings on the attack on the American mission in Benghazi, Libya, Paul brought up the possibility that the Obama administration was covering up the existence of a gun running pipeline running throughout the Middle East. “

“Regardless of Rand Paul’s efforts to keep the U.S. from running headlong into an armed conflict in Syria and his accurate depiction of the duplicity of those Syrian opposition forces waiting for the shipment of weapons from the United States, the Senate is speedily moving toward awarding al-Qaeda with crates of technologically advanced U.S. weaponry. “

Unless he had approval of the Administration he is breaking a Federal Law. Oh, I forgot...he’s a RINO and therefore almost as exempt as a full fledged Progressive. And if he had approval....why him?
