89 year-old British war veteran Douglas Radcliffe said today he will not move until “ISLAM” graffiti is removed from Bomber Command Memorial.
Douglas Radcliffe was 17 years and 11 months old when he volunteered in 1941. He was a wireless operator.
As a wireless operator my job was to receive messages – the only time you transmitted was if it was an SOS. Your main job was as the liaison officer in the aircraft. Every 15 minutes there would be a coded transmission from base, which might be information to help the navigator, or you might be told that an airfield had been put out of action and you had to land somewhere else. You could also tune in to beacons which transmitted signals to help locate your position, and I would also keep checking the rear gunner to make sure he was alright.
They always said you could tell a wireless operator by looking at his boots – the heating duct for the cockpit came out by my left foot, and it would partly melt the rubber sole of your boot. It meant I was always roasting, while the rear gunner would be freezing.
The biggest problem we had flying over Italy was the fighters. Whenever you had to join another crew you would always find that they had lost someone during a fighter attack. We got damaged once, on one of the wings, and we never knew what it was that had done it. A lot of people who got shot down never knew what hit them.
When we attacked targets it would be at such a low level that the gunners would be firing at targets on the ground. The bomb aimers, who doubled as the front gunners, had a particularly busy time. People say to me that it must have been terrible, but it wasn’t terrible. We knew the dangers but at that age you just don’t think about it. You always convinced yourself that people who were missing would have bailed out safely.

My Father survived Pearl Harbor, Korea and 2 tours in Vietnam. He died in 2005 at 85 and is in Arl. Natl. 3 more years and he would’ve witnessed the 2008 catastrophe. The stress of that election would’ve killed him.

Let’s not get too chagrined at the situation in the UK. I’m still waiting for American conservatives to get off their fat butts and show up at a local school board meeting to demand that the commie teachers be thrown out of the classrooms. It would also be good if they made an appearance at a local county board meeting to demand that property taxes be rolled back.
Most conservatives are too busy chasing mammon to worry about things like freedom for their children.

Yeah. Churchill had it easy by comparison. Just some condemnations in Parliament and nasty columns. Of course, there are not many HEROES left in the UK. Flanders Field, the Battle of Britain, Tobruk etc did indeed cut down “the flower of British manhood.” And more’s the pity for the world, that there are so few of those heroes left, but Tommy Robinson is one of them.
And when you either watch your daughters convert to Islam to save themselves from acid attacks in a generation, or you flee to the USA, you can apologize then to Tommy Robinson Now.

Robinson is a convicted soccer hooligan. He has a history of involvement in soccer hooliganism. As well as other violent incidents. Robinson swans around in a combat uniform yet has never served a second in the armed forces. Nor of course have the vast majority of the EDL ‘army’.
Fight hard?. I WAS ex-military, prepared to fight and die for the UK, as I would without a second’s thought today. Had I been a week later at Glasgow Airport, I’d have been one of the men who beat up the two bombers.
I AM a patriot, I love my country, and I wont be told I am not or I dont care about Britain simply because I dont support/adore a thuggish group with a convicted thug for a leader. Tommy Robinson is a grandstanding loudmouth surrounded by his pseudo-’army’.
(In case you havent noticed, all the British freepers bar one dont support the EDl and are dismayed at the hero worship they get here from frankly nieve Americans. And all of that group (which includes me) are ex-military and all lifelong conservatives. Dosent that tell you something?..)
The EDL is a group whose background and actions will HARM the right in the UK. They are and will be used to label all of the right as racists and bigots. They will compromise any attempt by those of us on the right to properly combat Islam, immigration, multiculturalism and other issues. They are not the UK Tea Party and they arent modern day Churchill’s.
You want to support the UK and the UK right?. Then support UKIP and Nigel Farage, support ordinary conservatives like me, support even the old tory elements of the Tory Party. Not the EDL or Robinson Lennon or whatever he calls himself. I dont support the EDL or Tommy the God, and frankly I need not justify myself to people who dont even live in the UK.
