“If that seems too contrived for you, Glenn Beck is an interesting alternative but if you seek a 24/7 conservative TV news network, you’re out of luck. FR is the best we can do and come to think of it, that isn’t too shabby.”

I have a series of gripes about Fox. I don’t require “purity”, but I do require honesty and an attempt to be something more than simple entertainment.

Fox also frustrates me, because the left has damaged them beyond repair. How many times have you talked to a “moderate” and when Fox is mentioned, they roll their eyes like you said Weekly World News?

I realize Fox is a business, and entertainment is essential for audience share which translates to a profit. Got it. Fox is a little to cozy with Arab, (muslim), investors.

I could go on, but the bottom line is that I have no particular affection for Fox, and I can get all the news I need from radio and the internet.

I don't believe Fox News is 'simple entertainment' but it is a cable TV network, not a source of revealed truth so I won't argue the point because our opinions about Fox News are subjective and cannot be proven right or wrong.

Fox also frustrates me, because the left has damaged them beyond repair. How many times have you talked to a “moderate” and when Fox is mentioned, they roll their eyes like you said Weekly World News?

In my view this sneering disdain for Fox News from leftists - shared by some so-called 'moderates' - validates the relative fairness of Fox News programming. I would ask those 'moderates' who scoff at the legitimacy of Fox News if they ever watch it. As with Rush Limbaugh, most critics just parrot what others have told them and haven't actually made an informed judgement of Fox News.

I realize Fox is a business, and entertainment is essential for audience share which translates to a profit. Got it. Fox is a little to cozy with Arab, (muslim), investors.

I've read that complaint before on FR. When I see Muslim jihadists being excused on Fox News shows, I'll abandon the network. Until then, that remains a specious accusation.

I could go on, but the bottom line is that I have no particular affection for Fox, and I can get all the news I need from radio and the internet.

I'm sure we could both go on but I'm not here to interminably defend Fox News. I'm just stating my views on the network, which I consider an oasis in a sea of transparently leftist TV news networks, beginning with the 'Big Three'. My bottom line is that I think conservatives are fortunate to have any TV news network that isn't totally liberal and the constant carping about Fox News that I read on FR seems petty and sometimes overblown. They've been accused by some FReepers of 'drifting left' for years now and frankly, I just don't see it....and I think I'd notice.

Fox News is thriving (handily beating all its cable news competition) and while some FReepers are critical of the network (mainly because of the liberal commentators) I believe it will continue to do well, even as the left endlessly attempt to deem it an illegitimate source of information. Fortunately, Fox News' growing audience doesn't agree.
