Michigan Democrat Mark Schauer on running for governor: 'I'm ready to work, and I'm ready to win'

LANSING, MI -- It's official: Former Congressman Mark Schauer is running for Michigan governor.

The Battle Creek Democrat announced his candidacy online Tuesday and filed paperwork with the Michigan Secretary of State establishing a candidate committee, Mark Schauer for Governor, which will allow him to begin raising funds as he seeks the party nomination in 2014.

He's the first Democrat to declare for the race and is the clear party favorite to challenge first-term Republican Gov. Rick Snyder, who has not yet confirmed his own re-election plans but is widely expected to run.

"We need a governor who will protect the middle class and invest in education to create good jobs for Michigan workers," Schauer said in a released statement, reiterating his earlier posts on Facebook and Twitter. "Rick Snyder has taken our state in the wrong direction. Snyder's school cuts and higher taxes on seniors and working families are hurting Michigan’s economy.

"Today I'm taking the first steps to form a campaign for governor. I'm ready to run, I'm ready to work, and I'm ready to win in 2014. It's time to build an economy that works for everyone, not just the special interests."

Anyone that's followed my posts and cripplecreek's posts here know about our views of Mark Schauer.

I've voted against Marky Mark and the Pepper Sprayed Bunch twice already here in Northfield Township and am about to make it a third time. This guy was an awful congressman who I was stuck with for two years before we got Tim Walberg back in his 2nd stint.

Marky Mark will do whatever his puppermasters ask him to do. In this case, it is the unions. He was pepper sprayed at the union mob's intimidation attempt at the capitol where the AFP was torn down by the thugs. He also voted for Obamacare, Cap and Trade, the Granholm taxes, and every other crappy legislation that came through either the Michigan house/senate or Congress during the times he was there.

He sucks.

Michigan needs a Democrat now like Detroit needs more muslims.

Mark (Golden) Schauer is known for two things. A record fine for campaign finance violations, and his vote for Obamacare.

And if he wins, Indiana will welcome more Michigan jobs that flee.

I don’t see him defeating Snyder. Things must be pretty bad for the democrats to put Nancy’s pool boy out there.

It's time to build an economy that works for everyone, not just the special interests.

Translation into plain English: "It's time to give more to the looters."

Isn’t Schauer a convicted crook?

*snicker*

Was Jack the Dripper’s lawyer unavailable to run ? Man, the MI rodentry is scraping the bottom of the barrel for candidates.

Convicted in the political sense. (He got a fine)

Basically he got caught in a political money laundering scam and was fined for it. If I recall correctly his maxed out donors were donating to other politicians who in turn donated the money to him.

Poor Joe Schwarz must be having a nervous breakdown. He supported Schauer against Walberg but supported Snyder.

Poor fella is gonna have a stroke.

Snyder's school cuts and higher taxes on seniors and working families are hurting Michigan’s economy.

The States That Recovered Most (and Least) from the Recession (Michigan most improved)

Detroit home prices grew almost 20 percent in March

Marginally better than Levin. If we must have a RINO, I’d prefer Candace Miller.
