Eight years ago...I received an email that one of long most-distant relatives had finally passed away in Nigeria, and I could be part of the estate. They wanted me to believe that one member of my family in the 1880s had left Alabama and gone off to deepest, darkest Africa.
I just sat there in disbelief. It’s hard enough to convince any of my Alabama relatives to even travel up to Nashville or Atlanta for a weekend....but they’d get onboard some ship for three weeks and go to Africa? It just ain’t going to happen.
