With Bachmann not running, Jim Graves pulls out of 6th District race

As of today, Jim Graves is going to indefinitely suspend his campaign for Congress from the 6th District.

Translation: He is not running. He is dropping out of politics to concentrate on his family and his business.

~SNIP~

“Basically, after all that’s gone on, and with Michele Bachmann now stepping down, I’ve been talking to my friends and family and frankly, the feeling is, ‘Mission Accomplished.’ She wasn’t representing the people of the 6th District appropriately, and now she won’t be representing them. There’s no way anyone could run and win who would be worse than Michele Bachmann. So we accomplished that task.”

“Bachmann still holds the office for some 18 more months and she wouldn’t announce leaving out of fear of losing a race a year and a half away. I personally think she’s looking toward another office. If not a national office, Minnesota could sure use a better SOS.”

I believe that Michele Bachmann is looking ahead to other opportunities, also. I don’t believe for one second that she felt she would lose, or that she is considering leaving politics. This lady has much more to do. :-)

Looks like it. These creeps are such scum. They aren’t fit to shine Bachmann’s shoes.

Now what? A tame RINO?

I’m sure that they could dig him up, in a pinch.

Another wise thing about Bachmann announcing early is that it gives people a chance to get over the idea of her running again (people do get emotionally invested) and makes fundraising for the eventual GOP candidate easier.

Than God, Michele Bachmann isn't going to be a Dingell-berry clinging to the seat till death.

"Mission accomplished?" This idiot is so convinced of his own impact that he and he only was the cause for Bachmann not seeking reelection. He omits the rather important fact he went up against her twice and lost. She ably represented the people of MI-6 for the equivalent of two presidential terms. If anyone's mission is accomplished, it's hers.

Seems Emmer lost the race for Governor in Minn. by 9,000 votes. For some reason the recount was stopped.Reading the stuff below poses a big question mark in my mind about possible corruption in that race. You know if we keep letting the rats win close races by stealing votes we may as well not run.

That lead was just barely under the 0.5% margin that requires a recount as opposed to one demanded and funded by a candidate. The margin of actual votes was far larger than recounts usually reverse at almost 9,000. Emmer really only had one hope going into the recount, which was that a recanvass of Hennepin County would substantially change the vote totals. Hennepin, which houses the city of Minneapolis, miscounted returns on Election Night by tens of thousands of votes. The recanvass during the recount phase didn’t change the corrected totals much at all, which put an end to Emmer’s hopes of prevailing.

Sounds like a opportune time to run a candidate that would make Michelle look like a moderate. Can’t hurt.

Emmer is damaged goods, unfortunately. He crushed Marx Dayton in Wright County in the governor’s race but if I lived in CD-6 (I live in CD-8), I’d be asking Phil Krinkie to run.

Thankfully, Republicans in CD-6 have a deep bench.

Though I am waiting for the first article from a national news source calling Jim Graves a ‘quitter’, like we’ve been seeing with regard to both Bachmann and Sarah Palin.

Of course, Graves actually is a quitter, having tried and failed and then dropped out.

I don't think so. He lost because he ran a lousy campaign. I didn't know who he was even until I started listening to his morning radio talk show. He's terrific.

Given the problems that any Republican has with the Minneapolis RedStar Tribune (see exhibit A: Michele Bachmann and exhibit B: Chip Cravaack), Emmer’s history and failed campaign against Governor Jim Beam make him damaged goods in my view.

It’s not that he’s not conservative and it’s not that he doesn’t do a good radio show. It’s just that I think CD-6 can do better.
