Unemployment insurance payments to more than 70,000 North Carolinians are set to run out in four weeks, one result of an overhaul in North Carolinas unemployment system that takes effect on June 30.
Those affected include anyone receiving federal extended unemployment payments, or most people who started drawing benefits before January 1. The N.C. Employment Security Commission has begun notifying people through its website and over the phone when they file required weekly claims.
The state legislatures unemployment system overhaul, which both raised taxes on employers and cut the length and amount of benefits, makes the state ineligible to receive federal unemployment funds intended for those unemployed longer than 26 weeks. Federal law cuts off aid to states that dont maintain their current benefit system.
The U.S. Department of Labor estimates 170,000 people in North Carolina could ultimately lose extended federal benefits for which they otherwise would have qualified.

Good.
Well, good. There should be no such thing as federal unemployment benefits.
When they go of the rolls, the unemployment rate will drop .. Obamanomics at work in thr Tarheel state.
I would love to see a stat on how many in that category suddenly find work after being cut off from welfare I mean 'unemployment' payments.
You got that right. Before you know it the fake but accurate unemployment rate will be about 2%.
Good.
Now lets bring back American jobs.
I would love to see a stat on how many in that category suddenly go on disability.
Watch those numbers skyrocket.
Good. Most of those people will miraculously find jobs. Well, the ones that don’t manage to get on disability that is.
Nice, that will drop the unemployment rate from 7.8 to 7.7, the stock market is gonna soar.
(our system is a joke, when the Feds define the rules they are judged by.)
Will someone overseas please box up a job and mail it to CNN. Make sure its an American job.
Meanwhile, have a look at only a few of the great and productive “taxpayers” behind the link below. There’s not much of any real private sector remaining. Even most services depend too much on customers with incomes from government.

That’s a good thing.
Thankfully, the time I spent there was short. Watch the exodus from the Research Triangle, where large pockets of ignorant liberals laid out the welcome mat for semi-legally imported indentured servants, jihadist students and assorted illegal aliens from every nation on Earth!
It's going to take a few years before the actual citizens of NC clean up the mess they allowed to happen.
They will get there.
I wonder where the people they allowed in, will scurry away too, though.
Thank God most of them won't come to Florida and try to hide here.
The competition is too stiff.
Me too. I hated it, couldn’t get out quick enough.
Obama's fault.
The Research Triangle...what a cesspool of Liberalism
Good- The complained about SS goign bankrupt, yet they apparentlyu had plenty of money to keep these poepel on unemployement for what? 4 Years now?
But on another note- SS is ‘running out of money’ (Meanign washington has STOLEN the money that they were supposed to be investing) and we are in a ‘country destroyign sequester because htere is no money” (So wer’e trold) but our govenrment STILL can fork out billions to terrorist nations, STILL fork out billiosn to WORTHLESS ‘studies’ and ‘investigations’ and ‘trials’, STILL can pay soem 60 Czars to the tune of what? A couple billion? STILL can give our president $1.5 BILLION DOLLARS IN JUST THREE YEARS (which will add up to more than 3 BILLION after 8 years) to spend on HIMSELF and his family- We got billions of Dollars to waste on finding water on mars, Finding out hte matign habits of three toed fireants in central europe, etc etc etc
But by golly we got no money for SS
Just think if our govenrment actually had to balance their check book, just liek hte rest of the world has to do?
touché!
