Ventura dangles idea of 2016 presidential bid (ROFL)

ust back from his part-time home in Mexico, former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura dangled the idea Friday that he could run for the U.S. presidency in 2016.

Ventura eagerly volunteered the possibility while at Minnesota's Capitol - and pushed back against skepticism that he would re-enter the political fray after being out of office since 2003. It's hardly the first time the publicity savvy Ventura has broached the idea he would run for the White House or Senate, only to pass on a campaign.

He said the next race is "an opportune time" for an independent like him to run because there will be no incumbent. He said he's approached radio shock jock Howard Stern about being his running mate, and Stern expressed interest.

An email message seeking comment from Stern's agent was left Friday night by The Associated Press.

I hear he is suing the widow of the Navy Seal that was murdered on the gun range. He was all mad about the Seal saying he was bad mouthing GW, war; etc; so this jerk has the court to substitute his widow in the suit after his death.

No thanks.

The Jesse the Body-Howard Stern ticket vs. the Weiner-Holder ticket.

I watched some talking heads handicap elections the weekend before election day the year Ventura won his first gubernatorial race.

They were dismissive about his "fringe" or "joke" candidacy.

Boy, were they wrong.

Just sayin'...

He's long since become a legend in his own mind, but I'll give him props (as well as the casting director) for his brief appearance in "The X-Files", the Jose Chung epi, iirc.

Ventura, not even his real name. Even Jebbie is John Ellis Bush.

One of only two former governors who admitted steroid abuse.

Agreed. Maybe he can get the Paul family involved in his campaign and we can keep all the lunatics in one place. Libertarianism is pure idiocy.

I would never vote for the man for anything; however, he IS the only MN governor in my lifetime to mail out tax refund checks due to a budget surplus.

His reasoning: if there's a surplus, that means the citizens of MN were overtaxed.

The Democrats were appalled, of course...they had lots of ideas for spending the windfall.

I give Jesse and Dale Bumpers credits for walking out of the Wellstone Memorial as opposed to Trent Lott(R)—tough being a cheerleader and all. Senator Dale and Billy Clinton have a shared stock story about small airplane hazards in inclement weather. I believe Dale used a version of that story during the impeachment proceedings final arguments too.
