In my experience Baptists were never strong scouting supporters any way. They did not sponsor troops like other denominations. That is especially of the small elitist Baptist congregations.
To say they are leaving in mass is assuming there was a Baptist scouting mass to begin with.

I wouldn't send my daughter to any sleepaway camp but our local troop camp gatherings on weekends are heavily supervised by helicopter parents.

Yeah I am really torn here. I made the decision not to go ahead to Boy Scouts for my older son, but I have one in cubs still. Some of the activities were really ridiculous...things like scrap booking???? Come on! I think we’re done. This made the decision easier. By the way, how can they keep “morally straight” in there? I mean, what is the point of that line now?

The SBC is making a terrible tactical and strategic mistake. The Devil wants sin to stay in the dark and hidden. Every publicly declared homosexual boy in the Scout is an opportunity to testify of Christ and to transform lives.
Furthermore, hearing the stories and watching the transformations or resistances to change will innoculate Christian youth like nothing else can. Real life, direct experience with the misery of the homosexual lifestyle is being kept from the public and via government schools is perverted into praise for a depressing, unhappy lifestyle.
Learning to love the sinner and hate the sin is the goal of every Christian.

No, I am defending scouting. I have no truck with narrow minded zealots that insist on behvior that ultimately is destructive.
I voted and wrote against the change to the scouting program but it is what it is.

No, I didn't forget the Catholic Church or the Orthodox churches - nor did I forget the LDS church. Those are in a different category, and I will allow Catholics or Mormons or Orthodox Christians to address how their churches will deal with the current situation. Particularly in the case of the Catholic Church, there seems to be a vast gulf between what the church leadership teaches and what the laity actually believes or practices. Since I am not Catholic, I can't really speak effectively to how that difference might affect their relationship with the BSA.
And is it really necessary to stoop to calling people "ignorant"? That doesn't speak very highly of your maturity and your ability to carry on a cogent conversation.
