They have crimes to solve Mr Creek, they need your DNA so they can solve one of them.
Another aspect of DNA is that it can be used to identify close relatives. Given the incarceration percentage of some families the Government isn’t going to need an exact DNA match to narrow the number of suspects. Once having narrowed the suspects will the Government have the right to force DNA samples of family members?
They can get my DNA off their lips when they finish kissing my ass.
If you have a gene that can be useful to others, it should be your right to make the following determinations.
1. Do you want to share it?
2. Who do you want to share it with?
3. Do you want to be compensated?
4. How much compensation do you want?
I’m sure there are other considerations too. The point is, your physical being in every sense of the word is your property. Not your parents, your wife, your children, or some government agency should EVER get access to it without your expressed consent, and they should have to abide by your wishes every step of the way.
You wouldn’t let the government steal your car. You evidently are willing to let them steal part of you. I am not willing to let them steal part of me.
If you wish to donate your essence to the government to allow it to do whatever it wishes, then so be it. Sign off on it. I’m not going to. I don’t expect other citizens to buy into it. Don’t try to pass off the idea that I should adopt your flawed reasoning on this. I never will.
The human genome belongs to the species.
Bull s__t!
I don’t think there is a more Leftist mind-set than that.
It touches on the core of our existence. You are essentially saying that you, I, and everyone else is nothing more than a cog in the collective.
Karl, is that you?
fingerprinting along with dna sampling is against my fifth amendment rights of self-incrimination. that is what i will fight tooth and nail if i am ever “booked” by you. and then i will sue you and the department for a constitutional violation. and for the beating i will receive when you insist on trying to fingerprint me...
the cause is greater than any one man, but free men fight the system as it grows more and more corrupt. those as part of the system must search their consciences for what is right.
good luck.
You borrow the human genome. I’m sure that some time in the future you’ll be privileged to swap it for another one you might prefer. But at the moment, FUR SHUR, you got your genome from your mommy/daddy, as they did theirs.
You almost always find members of the public demanding that be done ~ even though he crime rate among gub'mnt employees is actually quite low, even discouning for retirement system ripoff experts.
Primary question: Why is DNA needed?
Secondary: Aren’t there many unsolved crimes brought to conclusion because of DNA matches?
Thanks, thought so... :-)
there is government fingerprinting to ensure that the worker isn’t a criminal, through identification and application to work for the government... but to demand a person be fingerprinted for the purpose of matching his prints up to those taken at a crime scene is allowing one to self-incriminate oneself.

If you can’t understand that individuals own their own selves and should have a say in how their own genes are used, it’s pointless for me to discuss this or any other issue with you.
How much more personal does Conservatism get, than the essence our Creator granted individually to us?
Evidently you think he granted us rights, but don’t think he granted us the right to determine how our personal genes are used.
FAIL!
Leni
you borrowed your genes from someone else. you are confusing the sum of the parts for the parts themselves.
You own the rights to your body.
I own the rights to mine.
My parents chose to gift me with life, and thereby their genes.
You do not have any right whatsoever to devalue my ownership of any part of my self.
And that is what you are trying to justify. FAIL!
God holds the patents on all the parts.
Oh good, then we can take your left hand any time we want.
We can take your right leg any time we want.
We can take your liver if we like.
After all, you are owned by humanity. And humanity can demand part of you any time it likes. It’s all in God’s plan.
You don’t own it. Silly me.
I have no objection to someone else allowing another person the right of using a certain gene they may have in their physical make-up, whether it matches one of mine or not.
It’s when you try to tell me that I must give my genes away freely that you and I have a great big problem.
I own my physical content. You do not. Humanity does not. And God is not trying to block my ability to do as I please with my essence.
Muawiyah, either we’re taking past each other, or you are totally clueless on this issue.
What is more personal than your own body? And you don’t have the rights to say what someone else can do with it? Seriously?
And I once went fishing.
