There were directives and micromanagement and those appear to be leading to the home office in D.C. How high up the food chain they go there is still to be determined.

Names will be named. The lower level employees are seething about being blamed. Heads need to roll and illegality needs to be prosecuted. Until that is done, this scandal is not going to die.

Today personal testimony is scheduled by individuals marked by the IRS.

Wish I was by a television today.

“When I first started working...way back in the 80’s, the old timers called that the “Pearl Harbor File”.

I’m laughing at your post. At my age the 80’s seem like yesterday. I guess I’m one of your “old timers” grandpa’s.

“...why do you want to bring the investigations to a big screeching halt?”

No, I don’t. But I don’t think any of the little fish are going to roll over on the big fish unless and until the pain of keeping silent is greater than the pain of speaking out.

Of course, I could be wrong and this is just getting started.

But it seems that many, many serious federal laws were BROKEN. It may be that the delays re: tea party, et al. tax exempt applications are legal even if improper, but releasing of donor’s names and other tax return info is definitely illegal.

I think likewise targeting someone for an audit for punitive reasons is also illegal.

But of course nothing will change, really, until the MSM starts changing the tune they sing.

I can only imagine that if Obama was a republican he would have been hounded out of office already.

What difference, at this point in time, does it make?

The agent also said a second IRS employee asked for information on two other specific applicants in which Washington was interested.

Interesting. How did "Washington" become aware of these two specific applicants (out of the thousands that were submitted that year). What "information" did Washington seek? Have these applicants been identified to the public?

It would be easier to find those that were NOT involved. I’m thinking maybe 2 or 3 in the entire corrupt criminal organization.

It’s time to bulldoze every IRS office and throw every IRS employee out in the streets. SCREW THESE PEOPLE!

I think they need to start indicting some of the lower level people who were involved in these applications, then they’ll start to sing.

Under a rational system you would be correct. But in this case we would be counting on Eric Holder’s organization to actually do its job.

No chance.

We already know that Chuck the Schmuck Schumer and Franken were in on it., that’s pretty high up. Both should be removed from office, for using their office against their opponents. We truly need to get rid of those two a-holes.

Those schmucks are under the Legislative Branch, the IRS is under the Executive (Obama) Branch.

The IRS targeting of conservatives starts here.

Rahm Emanuel Tightens Grip On Treasury Department / Reported by WSJ / 05/31/09

On Jan. 20, 2009 Timothy Geithner took over as Obama's Secy of the Treasury. Within three weeks, the obama White House tightened its grip by putting Obama's COS--Rahm Emanuel in charge of Treasury---an unusual move.

Since then, White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel has been so involved in the workings of the Treasury that the phrase "Rahm wants it" has become an unofficial mantra among some govt staff employed at the Treasury, according to government officials.

The lower level employees are seething about being blamed.

"Seething" is not enough. Fearing extended incarceration will work much better. Too bad Judge Sirica has passed on.

We have yet to hear anyone name a single federal law that was broken in the IRS case ~ no doubt someone will come up with something, but a case being delayed is, in and of itself, not a crime. Happens all the time in fact.

However, you clearly don't understand the government. Unlike the private sector where your boss might have some hiring and firing authority, in the federal government the boss shares only part of that authority with several other layers of management, and with an independent agency called OPM (office of personnel management).

Also, for all the talk of rapid growth of government, they're really talking about state and local governments ~ the federales haven't increased substantially since the 1960s. They have computerized and hired on smarter folks by raising standards, but there's limited growth.

Worse from the standpoint of the employees has been the institution of a flat hierarchical structure ~ you have a boss, a bunch of college grads, and a computer system (with no secretaries or clerks). There may be two more layers of management above them before you get to the top.

One surefire route to promotional success in the federal government is for management ranks to have a higher than average death rate, or earlier than normal retirements!

If you can nail a higher level boss in a crime, that's even better since that'll usually take her out, and several of her cronies.

The only boss to not sandbag is your immediate supervisor.

If you assume you have to threaten the rank and file to get them to talk you are in serious error. Promise them immunity. Promise then a chance for a 1 grade promotion They'll tell you what you need about anybody.
