Frank Lautenberg, the Democratic senator from New Jersey who died today at age 89, will be remembered by others for his career in government. To me the more fascinating story is his career in business.
Because the company where Lautenberg spent the 30 years between 1952 and 1982 — longer than the time he spent in the Senate — is a classic example that manages to encapsulate both the genius and the risks of a certain kind of American business.
It was the success of that company — now Automatic Data Processing, Inc., or ADP — that made Lautenberg the fortune recently estimated at between $55 million and $116 million. That money is what made him a player in politics to begin with as a donor and as a self-financed candidate.

Just like Ross Perot(Rossy Baby made his Billions processing Medicare Claims through his company EDP). So therefore Ross Perot is a First Class Hypocrite(JUST like Ron Paul is)!

Just think, if the Lout and Ross hadn't stepped up, governments might have fallen because of paperwork....yeah.....
Thus, it can be argued that the term conservative lawyer is in some part an oxymoron.
The way this works is that there is a "service" that will process and check it for technical errors and then forward it on to the government agency in bulk and directly to their automated system. Of course, the taxpayer has to pay for the service.
So if we are paying the government employee's salaries, and then paying a service to process reports, doesn't it seem like we are paying twice?
Now if the budget for government agencies were going down, "services" doing some of the work would make sense.
I seem to remember that he was illegally nominated, or am I thinking of some other Jersey parasite?
Both Lautenberg and Bloomberg are the embodyment of the need for term limits. Bloomberg’s exceeding the New York mayoral term limits which everyone particularly the media seems to forget as well as Lautenberg.
If you review the so called Laurels of Lautenberg most of the stuff he did enlarged government and cost US money.
He retired and his replacement Bob Torricelli got caught with his hand in the cookie jar just before an election. They pulled Frank back in even though it was against NJ’s law at the time.
