Sebelius won’t waive regulation for girl with five weeks to live: ‘Someone lives and someone dies’

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius rebuffed an appeal from Rep. Lou Barletta, R-Pa., on behalf of a girl who needs a lung transplant but can’t get one because of a federal regulation that prevents her from qualifying for a transplant. …

“I would suggest, sir, that, again, this is an incredibly agonizing situation where someone lives and someone dies,” Sebelius replied. “The medical evidence and the transplant doctors who are making the rule—and have had the rule in place since 2005 making a delineation between pediatric and adult lungs, because lungs are different than other organs—that it’s based on the survivability [chances].” …

Yes, the Government will insist that the rule is based on what the science and the “doctors” say, just not what HER doctor says. Of course, if she were pregnant and wanted an abortion, Sebelius would issue an exception without hesitation.

” She can’t qualify for an adult lung transplant until the age of 12, according to federal regulations, but Sebelius has the authority to waive that rule on her behalf. “

If the girls parents were Democrats from Chicago, what do you think would happen?

Is there a Health and Human Services officer named Mengele?

Sebelius would act immediately if this girl’s parents were Democrats. I’m betting they’re Republicans. My bad if wrong but apparently our new government bases all of it’s decisions on one’s belief system; Democrat or Republican.

I agree with you. If there are rules in place, it should not be up to the discretion of Sebelius or anyone to change the rules at their whim. It is a sad situation, but if we seem to start down a road of condoning the HHS to make decisions as to who lives and who dies... we are just escalating the problem.

Yet they cling to this rather than change it. Bush’s precedent becomes good when they can utilize it to their own whims.

Just democrats doing what democrats do, kill the unborn and young.

The more they kill the better they feel.

Time to stop letting them kick us around and start fighting back.

“The American demographic voted for those currently in positions of authority and due to degeneracy will not object but like brute beasts accept their lot.”

Yeah it sure looks that way especially when so many conservatives sat out the last election.

Seems we could come up with our own enemy of the Country list based on the percentage who voted for communism.

Blacks 95% (more if you count the ones who voted multiple times)
Jewish 75% (so smart and so dumb at the same time)
Butt Pirates 90%
College/University professors 80%
Media 90%
Hispanic ?? don’t know the % but it is more than 50
Muslims 90%

Need I go on? Seems like we have a very large enemy within our own borders.

The Nazis had a term..”life without life” for those deemed too expensive for the state to care for and who then were euthanized.

The expression was "lebensunwertes Leben," meaning "life not worthy of life."

What is the federal regulation that prevents her from qualifying for a transplant? I have know people who have had friends die waiting for a transplant. Does the rule prevent her from getting the transplant or won’t pay for it? There are more people needed them than there are available. If you had unlimited money so any that anybody who needed it can be treated someone still needs to choose who gets treated first. Who should do this? It can’t be just the patient’s doctor because they only know about their patient.

The first test is it a good match? Will the person getting the transplant accept it or not?.

Once you know it is a match witch one is most likely to survive a transplant. Another how long can they wait?

Is this a place where free market won’t work?

Who comes first an old Hollywood star that has money to pay for it?

Should a homeless drunken street bum be turned away because he won’t do the necessary follow up to live?

Should the tax payers be included in the choices because they pay for it?

People on death row?

All this some what academic because until there are enough donors someone will need to choose who dies.

Timber Rattler was right to call her a witch, not a bitch. A bitch is a female dog. I have two wonderful male dogs. The mother of each was a bitch. A witch, OTOH, is a totally vile, evil woman who’s sold her soul to Satan in return for special, evil, powers, a perfect description of Siebelius. Calling her a bitch horribly insults all dogs, her personal and moral level being so far below theirs.
