Tropical Storm Andrea
National Hurricane Center ^ | 05 JUN 2013 | NHC

Posted on 06/05/2013 5:41:09 PM PDT by Old Sarge

And now we have our first named storm of the season, Andrea...

TS Andrea gained strength over the course of the day, becoming more organized; however the computer models form a consensus that the storm is not likely to reach Category 1 strength prior to landfall.

Andrea is projected to make landfall along the Florida coast between Crystal River to Apalachicola, with the Big Bend area most likely target.

Gulf Coast Florida is currently under a Tropical Storm Warning until 8PM Friday, from Boca Grande to Ochlocknee river. The southeast US coast is under a Tropical Storm Watch during the same period, north from Flagler Beach.

Tampa Bay to Apalachicola can expect a storm surge up to 4 feet. Andrea is expected to produce total rain accumulations of 3"-6" over much of Florida, the Panhandle, and southeastern Georgia, with isolated amounts of 8" possible.

Tropical storm conditions are expected to first reach the coast within the warning area by Thursday afternoon, making outside preparations difficult or dangerous. Isolated tornadoes are possible over the Florida Peninsula late tonight through Thursday.

I will provide updates as they are posted.

Don’t know where you live in Florida - will this one come to you? If it will, are your ready if power goes out?

If one starts in the Gulf or comes into the Gulf, I start watching. If it approaches Galveston or Beaumont, I get my emergency stuff ready. I need to get some ice if one heads this way and that’s it.

It’s been raining for days here, but the worst thing is the change in barometric pressure and the humidity.

It is SO unpleasant that the tropical air actually SMELLS of ozone..and not a Viking Kitty in Sight!

The Tribe and The Bunker are in the Tampa Bay area.

The core group at The Bunker is prepped and ready. We have secondary power and water sources ready to be deployed. We can even make our own ice...

The extended members of The Tribe are in vulnerable areas, and they know it; coastal areas, low-lying flood plains, double-wides, that sort of thing. All know what to do: evac routes to The Bunker, what to bring and to leave behind, and actions upon arrival.

We’re as ready as we can get for now...

We won’t lose power here. This is old-hat for long time Floridians. This is a rain event, plain and simple.

Expect road flooding and bad boating conditions through the weekend. That’s about it.

The joke among Florida preppers is, “we roll over and hit the snooze button for anything less than Category 2!”

Don’t really want another hurricane to hit the northeast after all the whining and Obama-worship that came from the last one. You’d think they’d never seen a hurricane before.
