Manson family member Leslie Van Houten is again denied freedom

A parole board on Wednesday rejected Manson family member Leslie Van Houten's 19th attempt to win freedom.

The board also decided she could not seek parole again for five years.

Van Houten, 63, was convicted of murder and conspiracy in the 1969 killings of Leno and Rosemary LaBianca in their home in Los Feliz. She has repeatedly been denied bids for parole over the last four decades.

“Given the brutality of the murders of Leno and Rosemary LaBianca and Van Houten’s willing and active participation in this evil, pre-planned and violent crime, we are pleased with the parole board’s decision to continue to hold Van Houten accountable for her heinous actions,' L.A. County Dist. Atty. Jackie Lacey said in a statement.

I knew two people who lived with the Manson Family. Fortunately for them they weren’t around for the murders.

I actually disagree with this. The crime WAS brutal, but she is no longer a threat and she has paid sufficiently for her crimes. We let gang bangers out of jail every day who are 100% more of a threat to all of us than she is. The parole board is playing politics to public opinion and the media.

Doesn’t some liberal college need teachers?

Personally, I think she should have been executed years, and years, and years ago. Gotta' look at the crime scene photos to appreciate what cruel monsters they were. It's a shame that, even every 5 years, we have to listen to her try to get out.

I lived in LA County when the murders took place and still remember the savagery of them and the fear of residents.

It's a shame the executions weren't carried out before the death penalty was temporarily overturned in CA, it's what they all deserved.

No Manson family member in prison should ever be paroled, IMO.

A friend of mine and former employee of my dad’s shop in S. El Monte, CA went to high school with Leslie. She was a homecoming queen. Monrovia HS

Have you ever read the details of the Tate/LaBianca murders? Paid sufficiently? Are you effin' kidding me?

I believe the Parole Board’s exact words to Houten in denying her parole was “FORK YOU”.

I agree. Young girls from broken homes and easy to manipulate. She’s paid enough. Hang Manson and let the rest go.

I wouldn’t invite them over for dinner unless it was for soup.

She was one of the prettiest members of that murderous family. The late Susan Atkins aka Sadie Mae Glutz wasn't bad looking either, but Susan Atkins was quite the murderess at the Tate/Polanski residence. Leslie Van Houten did her evil work at the LoBianca residence. It was Leslie Van Houten's and Tex Watson's handiwork that earned the praise of the wife of Obama's mentor, Bill Ayers. Her name then was Bernadine Dhorn and she gleefully immortalized Van Houten's slaughter with her "fork/pinkie" salute.

Incidentally, the brother of a man who married my late aunt was one of the cops that broke into the Tate/Polanski residence after the killing. He said he never saw so much slaughter in his life -- before or since. :(

Leslie Houten was more like a “home invasion queen” than a “homecoming queen”.
