Whence cometh the revolution? (...compares level of despotism today to what founders faced in '76)

Why is Justice blindfolded?

I am speaking of the allegorical Justice, also known as “Lady Justice.” She is usually represented holding a balance and sword, the former symbolizing fairness and the latter her power. Altogether, she represents the moral authority of law, or rather, that the law ought to observe morality.

She is also blindfolded. The blindfold represents the impartiality of Justice, that she is subject neither to prejudice nor influence. The second one – influence – is most significant in terms of our discussion.

It has been pointed out that the Boston Tea Party was carried out over confiscatory taxation on a scale far lower than that to which the average American is now obligated. Similarly, recent revelations concerning the egregious and illegal deeds of the Obama administration have given rise to the question of just how much our current situation parallels that of the men who founded this nation.

“But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security.”

– The Unanimous Declaration of the Thirteen United States of America

Our founders were predominantly Englishmen, most of whom held a love for their country and their heritage, so the decision to risk their lives, property and the future of their progeny was not taken lightly. I believe that the most difficult question they had to consider concerning the impending struggle against the British crown was this: When? When is enough … enough? When, or at what point, was it appropriate in their estimation to seriously discuss revolution? There could be no ambivalence as to their moral right to engage in war with Britain.

"Mr. President, it is natural to man to indulge in the illusions of hope. We are apt to shut our eyes against a painful truth, and listen to the song of that siren till she transforms us into beasts. Is this the part of wise men, engaged in a great and arduous struggle for liberty? Are we disposed to be of the number of those who, having eyes, see not, and, having ears, hear not, the things which so nearly concern their temporal salvation? For my part, whatever anguish of spirit it may cost, I am willing to know the whole truth; to know the worst, and to provide for it."

-from Patrick Henry's speech in 1775

I have little doubt that the loyalty of patriotic Americans runs so deep that the very last thing they wish to contemplate is revolt, but I also know that it has crossed the minds of many.

Aristotle wrote of this. "Those who excel in virtue have the best right of all to rebel (for they alone can with reason be deemed absolutely unequal), but then they are of all men the least inclined to do so."

Until our Constitution, rebellion or life under tyranny was the usual lot for oppressed people. Our Framers gave us another way. Rather than storm the White House and do nasty things to the usurper, his family and ministers, we are supposed to peacefully correct our presidential mistakes.

That peaceful correction is called the impeachment and removal power. We still have it. Lean on your congress-clowns to excise the virus of Obama.

Only 3% took part in the Revolution.

Very well said. For some, I’m sure it’s already started, and they’re wondering where the rest of us are.

“have to summon the courage to take on the Republican Party FIRST.....”
Absolutely true, and that’s what the Tea Party was all about, starting five long years ago.It was a tricky dynamic then, and it remains a tricky dynamic-—as presented by the media (ALL Media, not just the MSM) it’s still a game of “Republicans Vs. Democrats”, “the IRS Vs. The Tea Party”, and any permutation thereof which implies a potential “victory” of one party over another. In fact, it’s much larger than that, which is one reason why the IRS hearings should EXPAND
and remove their exclusive focus OFF its current “targets”.
Give some voice to the many many thousands of victims of the IRS who had nothing to do with the Tea Party and its appeals
for non-profit status. If they DON’T do this, they will blow the biggest opportunity for change I have seen in my lifetime, (and I’m not a kid). This is WAY too big an “issue” for it to devolve into the usual partisan game-playing which is the hallmark of our political elites and their “Agencies”.

That’s 9,600,000. Can DC handle that many before the swamp sinks?

Great question......where is our red line? Sadly, he has crossed it so any times, and nothing is done.

The Lenin opposition thought it was over when they capitulated. It wasn’t, they were murdered to purge descent and exact revenge. Lenin was real, he was a living breathing person who was historically noted among other things as narcissistic and paranoid. I have no doubt through Obamas actions and statements that he is narcissistic. The recent revelations of the IRS targeting, Rosen/Fox targeting, Fast & Furious, illegal drone strikes, and now NSA surveillance, all speak to paranoia. Narcissism and paranoia are a deadly mix. For us to believe that another Lenin couldn’t exist is reckless, it is throughout the history of the world.

When this thign starts, it may not be obvious, and it will be spun as a disgusting, low-down, crazy and unpatriotic thing to do.
But it has to start somewhere, somehow, and its foolish to think it will be quite as clean as Lexington and Concord, with peacefully assembled farmers being assaulted by professionally trained soldiers in bright redcoats.
Revolt is coming -- and will you recognize it when you hear of it?

Maybe it already did, no?
Given what we now know about the IRS, and the disgruntled writings of Stack, it may turn out that history will remember him as a visionary hero. (While some of his online posted rants were tinged with "the loony" he did have good points: how the tax-exempt status was/is being abused, how the IRS doesn't abide by its own rules, and so forth.)

And people should see the true nature of social programs and recognize them for what they are. Without Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security and EBT cards, where would we be? Well, much of society would be living by very thin margins indeed.

The New Deal and the Great Society and all the rest are mere insurance policies put in place by the Power Elite to make sure We The People do not engage in revolt.

If we see it for what it truly is, does it make you more likely or less likely to think revolt is overdue?

And by the way: the News and Entertainment industries are mere Bread & Circuses created by the Power Elite to keep you amused so that you do not fully comprehend how meaningless your life is as a slave of the state.

Maybe... using the power of the federal government to steal an election?

oops...

I guess that wasn’t it.

That's one of the reasons I'm disinclined to really look for full-time work — I am a slave for the state, not a citizen, for a citizen has real power to change and challenge things. (The other reason is because while I do have a CS degree, I want to do software engineering, not 'coding' [think "actual architect of software solutions" vs "unthinking cut-n-past script-kiddie".])

Where is the red line Hussein can't cross over or patriots actually attack? Where is the red line?

Monkeys will fly out of your ass, in formation, singing "Bohemian Rhapsody" in four-part harmony, before any so-called "patriot" gets off THEIR ass.

And you know I'm right. Those frogs still have some boiling yet to do.
