Interior chief: New drilling in the Atlantic and Pacific? Yeah, we’re not doing that

Interior Secretary Sally Jewell said Thursday that the White House won’t allow drilling in the Atlantic Ocean while House Republicans are putting the finishing touches on legislation to do so.

“We’ve done a five-year plan — it doesn’t include the Atlantic. I don’t expect to go back on that,” Jewell told reporters Thursday after a Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee hearing.

President Obama’s five-year drilling plan, which runs through 2017, doesn’t offer any lease sales in Atlantic or Pacific coastal waters. A 2010 draft of his plan included Atlantic waters, but Obama pulled back on it following the Gulf of Mexico oil spill later that year. …

Jewell’s remark hints strongly that Obama would veto the bill should it ever get to his desk — but Republicans plan to forge ahead regardless. Yes, I know all about your already-completed five-year drilling plan, and it stinks. As The Hill pointed out late last month, however, it isn’t just House Republicans floating the idea this time around. Both of the Democratic senators from Virginia have also proposed legislation that would allow for some leeway in the administration’s current plan:

Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.) told The Hill that he doesn’t think President Obama would veto his bill to authorize oil and gas drilling off Virginia’s coast.

“I’m not expecting that there will be a challenge in the White House. Maybe I’m naïve about it, but I think our work is in this branch,” Kaine said of Congress on Thursday.

Despite Kaine’s optimism about the bill he and Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.) introduced this week, the White House has given little impression that it intends to allow drilling in the Atlantic Ocean.

Sally -

Gasoline is $3.99 a gallon here in WI. Do you think you might be able to work on the drilling any time soon?

Thanks!

PS - No matter what Al Gore says, Manbearpig is NOT real.

Classy constituents don’t want any drilling within sight of their beach homes, and such constituents are influential.

While keeping their property values higher by ordering their politicians to prevent drilling within sight of their homes, BTW, such constituents receive more money from their energy market investments (higher prices).

“We’ve done a five-year plan”

USSR 1985
USA 2013

Is there a difference?

Call me a mysoginist or whatever the spelling, but it is becoming apparent that the Obama regime is placing mainly women as the heads of key cabinet positions and agencies, including NOAA (an astronaut/scientist who I know nothing about); IRS - Lerner - a crooked bureaucrat; Jenkins (Interior); Coast Guard (?); Nat. Security Advisor, the loser Susan Rice, former UN ambassador; Samathana Power; Hillary Clinton, the Benghazi disaster; EPA (Lisa the Red Jackson, protege of former EPA admin. comrade Carol Browner); Dep. of Health & Human Services (Katherine Sebelius, aka Dr. Mengele’s daughter); Dept. of Homeland Security, yeah right, Janet “our borders are safe” Napolitano; and others.

A few might be or are competent, but on the whole, most have been failures, not that the men have been any better - Chu, Hansen, Holdren, Holder, Perez, Panetta, Kerry, Hagel, Dempsey, Jones, Donilon, Brennan, Bernanke, Geithner).

I guess the Obama regime is an “equal opportunity to fail” hiring enterprise. Common sense, proven capabilities, real time experience, and political neutrality not wanted or allowed.

Interior Secretary Sally Jewell

OK a pop quiz question. Are there any white men holding any Secretarial jobs in the Obama Administration and if so who are they?

I mean men now, not homosexuals.

Offshore drilling in the Pacific and Atlantic must restart soon with a congressional overturn of the Obama offshore drilling moratorium. It is likely there are votes in the senate for an override and America can get back to business and produce oil as we did before the current offshore drilling ban.

A 5 year Plan? This regime is sounding more and more Soviet.
