Newark Mayor Cory Booker officially launches his campaign for the U.S. Senate this morning, but before he was even out of the gate, the attacks against him had begun.
Hours after Booker’s aides leaked the news yesterday that he will run in the special Senate primary in August to replace U.S. Frank Lautenberg who died this week, the National Republican Senatorial Committee sent out a blast email attacking the mayor’s celebrity status.
"It remains to be seen whether Cory Booker the candidate can match Cory Booker’s celebrity persona in this kind of race, since campaigning is so much different from party hopping in Hollywood, appearing on television, or tweeting," said Brad Dayspring, the committee’s communications director and a New Jersey native.
Booker, a Democrat who was elected mayor in 2006, can expect similar attacks from the left as he will likely face stiff competition from U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone (D-6th Dist.), Rep. Rush Holt (D-12th Dist.) and Assembly Speaker Sheila Oliver (D-Essex) in the Democratic primary. All three have either declared their candidacies or expressed an interest in running for Lautenberg’s seat.

Booker’s a two-fer!
I don’t think Booker and his maximum excellence are buddies. Would not surprise me if his visit with Krispy Cream was not an effort to keep him out of the senate i.e. don’t appoint him. Supposedly Krispy is a shoe in for reelection so the Senate seat is the only one in contention with national ramifications. Of the remaining list of libs, not sure which is the worse but whichever is would be the one that his maximum excellence would want elected IMO.
Hasn’t New Jersey suffered enough already with Democrats and RINOS ruling them? I find it hard to believe that Ronald Reagan carried the same state twice by several hundred thousand votes just a little over a generation ago. Much like California it went left and ruined itself.

Was at Middlsex County fair and he was campaigning there
Came up to me and stuck out hand and announced “Rush Holt”
Told him straight out was not voting for him because
1) Was a Reublican
2) lived in Passaic County (outside his district)

after some other poor schmucks......
He announced last year that he was going to run for Lautenberg's seat in the U.S. Senate -- while Lautenberg was insisting that he wasn't going to retire anytime soon. It was Booker's announcement that compelled Lautenberg to decide not to run for re-election in 2014.
Booker was right on that one. Lautenberg had no business holding onto that seat long even his health deteriorated and he was no longer even showing up in Washington for Senate votes.
Booker's biggest problem in the Democratic primary for this special election is that he may not have a lot of strong support even among the constituents in his own city of Newark. That city is pretty much a fiefdom that is run through tribal politics, and a lot of voters still won't forgive Booker for defeating Sharpe James -- who was once called "Newark's Mayor Mugabe" in a story by the Wall Street Journal some years ago.
What would you all think of Chris Smith running? I could get behind him.
Noting the “stiff competition” will come from within the dem party. Once he clears that hurdle, Booker, AKA Beloved Black Man II, will sail to an easy victory.

Yep, hard to believe that Reagan carried New Jersey, New York, California, even Massachusetts, when he ran for president. Things have definitely changed politically speaking.
Well, the liberals oppose voter ID, in part because there are some elderly people who never got a driver’s license or other government issued ID. The liberal view is that it is a poll tax to require someone to get an ID to vote, because there are fees involved with getting documents needed to get your ID.
So, because there may be some problems with some people getting their ID to vote, liberals say that means the entire concept of voter ID is flawed. That’s liberal logic for you.
The writer of this (lefty) Star-Ledger article is just speculating on who might be running in the 'Rat primary. Notice that he doesn't mention any Republicans who might be filing for the GOP primary. Maybe from his perspective, the GOP is non-existent.
Then why didn’t Christie appoint him and give him the advantage of incumbency?
Vote-crazed Booker——harboring ambitions for higher office-— eagerly accepted an invite to speak at a Planned Phood rally in Charlotte at the Democratic convention.
Alas, Booker’s hopes of burnishing his credentials w/ women voters were dashed when the event attracted only a handful of participants.
However, Booker did not miss an opportunity to show he is a “man of action.” Booker spotted a predator who went berserk and was trying to have sex with a discarded vagina costume——w.i.t.h.o.u.t. using a regulation Democratic condom with ribbed DNC logo.
Booker quickly summoned the ever-vigilant Planned Phood Condom Detail-—and the unsheathed sex maniac was hustled off.

Chris Christie showed himself to be as self-serving as they come with this special election decision. Is he doing Cory Booker a favor in exchange for Booker’s agreeing to not oppose him?
If Christie runs for President, I won’t vote for him in the primary, even if he faces only token opposition.
