The Kremlin pointedly disclosed Saturday, June 8, that President Vladimir Putin had talked by phone to Binyamin Netanyahu Friday on the Syrian question. It was their third conversation in a month. In his first call on May 6, Putin administered a dressing down to Netanyahu who was visiting Shanghai on Israel's air strike against Damascus the day before. On June 14th, the prime minister flew to Sochi for an abortive attempt to dissuade the Russian president from consigning advanced S-300 missiles to the Syrian army.
There was no comment from Jerusalem on this latest conversation. However, the frequent communications between the Russian and Israeli leaders speak volumes about who calls the shots for the Syrian war arena - and the wider Middle East as well - since the Obama administration opted out. It also demonstrated that Putin is not giving up on the deployment of Russian troops on the Golan, despite the UN veto on their stepping into the shoes of the departing 377 Austrian members of the UN force policing the Golan separation zone between Israel and Syria.

He will go straight to his ally, Syrian President Bashar Assad in Damascus, and advise him of the importance of deploying Russian soldiers to the Golan - on the same footing as the US military deployment in Jordan. Placing the unit just outside the Golan separation zone would save Moscow having to turn to the UN or Israel first.

If their joint command determines, in consultation with the Kremlin, that a Russian military presence is needed for back-up, Russian troops will be dropped on the Golan.

For the Lord has driven out from before you great and strong nations; but as for you, no one has been able to stand against you to this day. 10 One man of you shall chase a thousand, for the Lord your God is He who fights for you, as He promised you.
(Josua 23:9-10)
I call BS. Russian does not profit by a potential WWIII, starting with Israel.
Russia does not profit either by Israel becoming a natural gas exporter. WWIII, if that’s what you want to call it, would severely interfere with Israel’s plans. Heck, Russia may be planning on taking over the gas fields in the eastern Mediterranean!
In reality, Israel would have to respond in a very big way which would include attacking Russian assets. That would be the start of regional war that would most likely expand world-wide, and then probably go nuke. Russia learned a long time ago that are NO winners in nuclear warfare. They're smarter than that. Again. BS.
Just so everyone understands where the Golan is located...
It’s not only the Israelis who don’t want the Russians on their doorstep, the rebel groups fighting against Bashar al-Assad also don’t want them in their neighborhood.
In fact, Russia spent an entire decade, the 1980s, trying and failing to overcome resistance from Muslim militants known as the Mujahideen after it invaded Afghanistan — the same Mujahideen who are the direct progenitors of al-Qaeda, groups of whom have been trying and succeeding in sending Bashar al-Assad’s back to the wall.
Do the Russians really want a rematch: Russia vs. the sons of the Mujahideen? And do they really want to take on Israel, whose Stuxnet technology has probably been improved to the point where it can knock out whole areas of Russian military capability without being detected?
Think again, Vladimir.
One is the Psalm 83 war, which may include the destruction of Damascus as prophesied by Isaiah (or this may be another war). In Psalm 83 the nations who immediately surround Israel will attack. Is Russia trying to get included among those nations?
Next will be the Ezekiel 38 war, often times confused with Armageddon because of the images used in the description. But this is not the end (Armageddon) since Israel will spend 7 years burning up the abandoned vehicles of war. And it is not the Psalm 83 war because it will be fought when Israel is at peace and prosperous, which is far from today's situation. This war will be fought by the nations surrounding those who fought in the Psalm 83 war, which most definitely will include Russia.
So, yes, the location of Armageddon is very close to the Golan Heights. But all of these End-of-Time wars will be fought in Israel and, let's face it, everything is very close to everywhere else in Israel!
I think Vlad’s more worried about all those ‘’Ivans’’ heading for a Western embassy and saying ‘’So long to Mother Russia, Las Vegas here we come!’’.
