BRUNSWICK | A homeowner who answered his doorbell at 11 p.m. Saturday night shot a masked man who lunged at him with a knife, the Glynn County police said.

The masked man was found with multiple gunshot wounds to the back and buttocks. In a dynamic deadly force situation, wound location on the body is not necessarily indicative of how the person who was shot was oriented when the decision to fire was made.
Physical evidence should help sort this out pretty quickly

Shots in back and buttocks.
Appears homeowner experienced an ass attack. These are fairly common in progressive neighborhoods.
The guy needs to get a 9mm so he could place his shots better to put the guy down permanently. a 45 is no good if you cannot hit your target. :-)
