Fort Hood soldier charged in prostitution ring case (pimp: sexual assault prevention office)

The Army said Wednesday it had charged a Fort Hood sergeant with buying sexual favors from another soldier who was part of an alleged prostitution ring.

Master Sgt. Brad Grimes was accused of paying a soldier to have sex, but details of when that happened or whether other GIs were likely to be implicated in the case weren't known.

He is the only soldier so far charged in the matter.“They haven't answered the when and the where yet,” Fort Hood spokesman Chris Haug said. “Apparently that is part of the litigation.”

The case came to light in May when multiple military sources said a Fort Hood sexual-assault prevention staffer, Sgt. 1st Class Gregory McQueen, was accused of abusive sexual contact and pandering. No charges have been filed against him.

“I'm aware and I have no comment,” McQueen's attorney, Joseph Jordan, said, when asked about the development.

An 18-year veteran, Grimes is accused of conspiring with a second soldier to patronize a prostitute. He is also charged with patronizing a prostitute, committing adultery and solicitation to commit adultery, according to Fort Hood.

The case was among a series of incidents last month that rocked the armed services. Only a week before the prostitution investigation was revealed, the Air Force dismissed Lt. Col. Jeffrey Krusinski as head of its sexual assault prevention office after he was charged in Virginia for allegedly groping a woman in a parking lot.

A scandal at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland involving 33 basic training instructors and 67 trainees has become the biggest in Air Force history. The scandal has triggered congressional hearings and sweeping changes in the way recruits are trained in San Antonio.

According to the AP story on the incident, the prostitute was a female soldier, who has not been charged with anything.

Go figure.

Isn't adultery a religious thing? I thought the military threw religion under the bus. We're all just animals now. No God. No religion. No souls.

No adultery remains a charge under the UCMJ and is used in circumstances where the soldier either was married, or was with another soldier that they knew to be married, or was with another soldier’s spouse and some proof exists.

It also isn’t all that uncommon. I busted a ring of soldiers, spouses, and some unconnected civilians that were swinging at an Army base. The proof that I presented to my commanding officer was that they had all come down with the exact same STDs at the same time and that two of them had seperately approached me about my wife and I joining them. The second piece was cirumstantial, but borne out by the first piece. One soldier was discharged, the other three lost rank on charges including adultery, all four were divorced within the year.

I joined the Navy fifty one years ago. In those days you were required to attend a religious service of some kind once a week during boot camp. After boot camp it was up to you but during boot training you had to pick a service to attend every week. Guess what? In those days you never heard of a sailor being charged with patronizing a prostitute, there were classes on how to prevent disease and you were advised NOT to patronize a prostitute but the idea of making it a violation of the UCMJ apparently was never considered. Now that homosexuality is officially endorsed and religion is on the ropes the military wants to punish people for what used to be routinely ignored.
