Children who don’t get a pre-kindergarten education, ideally from birth to age 5, might fall behind and “may as well drop out” by third grade, Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius said on Wednesday at an event to garner support for President Barack Obama's $75-billion proposal to increase pre-school enrollment across the country.

And see, this is where you run into the roadblock with leftists and their underlying assumptions based in their religion of Humanism -

“yeah, people in the past have made mistakes with these policies, but we’re better humans today than they were then, and so we’ll do it right.”

So, no amount of example from past or from fiction will sway them from their agenda - because those examples don’t apply to them.

Soooo, let’s get this straight - the evil, lizard necked monstrosity, Kathleen Teller Mengele Sebelius, wants to take over our children at what age ????? Sounds like the she-jackal is wound a little tightly - and getting tighter. Most excellent. Suffer, you evil one.

And kids who need a lung transplant should be removed from the list - the ultimate drop-out. Thank you K. Sebelius.

Latest data says that kids who engage in pre-school don't appear to derive any benefit from it that lasts beyond second grade. They'd get more out of playing around at home with their mothers or baby sitters.

Sibelius appears to have not read up on much.

First, that line is likely a straight-up lie to get people to support the federal government to spend billions on public education that will likley line union officials pockets. Second, if the line is true, the children are likely not that far behind their peers because they didn't attend pre-K education. Instead, their peers who had pre-K education are likely further ahead because: (1) parents who place kids in pre-K generally also stress learning even outside school; and (2) parents who place kids in pre-K generally are more affluent because they're of good genetic stock that allowed them to succeed. They then passed those good genes onto their children.

nice encouragement to offer the 5th grade teaches who have done such an excellent job of meeting NCLB standards at least in our school

if the schools would start hiring competent principals, not hiring incompentent assistant principals, and start expelling juvies into boot camp schools at grade 6 it would help everyone

(stopping the pop tart free breakfasts would also help)

I’m sure she knows it, but she’s relying on the fact that most people don’t know or don’t care, after all it’s free babysitting!

Funny, my kids new their ABC’s, colors, shapes, were beginning to read and could behave themselves by the time they went to kindergarten, and they were both home way more than they were in day care.

Riiiight.
As far as I can tell Pre-k is just a warehouse for kids, or, in a kinder light, an extended play-date for them, while the parents work. No educatin’ goes on.

Bull$hit. Study after study has shown that any gains from pre K are completely erased by the 3rd grade and there is NO DIFFERENCE between pre K kids and non pre K kids. The Rats want to pour more money down that rat hole to get more union teachers on the payroll.

If the indoctrination is not started and going full bore by age five, then the child may be hopelessly lost from the New Unity of America being formed in the geographic area once known as “the United States of America”.

Parents who home-school are the vanguard of the new terrorists.

There are more “red” Congressional districts in the US than “blue” districts, and they have the advantage of being nearly all contiguous. Let your Congress-critter know what your feelings are on this subject.

When they lie, which is consistently, they lie HUGE.

Why lie small when you’re always going to lie?

What a concoction of prevarications the statement is, and presented to a nation of dupes.

Now Obama wants to start the indoctrination process at birth so the government can raise good little commies.

But they need the pop tarts to teach the kids how evil it is to bite them into shapes of guns.

"Head Start" is a fraud that helps not at all and may actually reduce the desire and ability of a child to learn.

However in "they might as well drop out" she is just parroting what the teachers have told me. They rarely will bother to try to bring a child that is falling behind up to speed. Usually they will simply hang the label “learning disabled” on them and shuffle them off to “special classes” where it is guaranteed that they will not learn a thing.
