Update #4: — w/ replies!
- Only one letter was returned, undeliverable: NC's Gov Perdue.
- Reply from CO's Hichenlooper; which is as folloes (including some funny formatting):
The Governor's Office has received your letter of request for assistance with a federal issue. After careful consideration, we regret to inform you the Governor's Office does not have jurisdiction over these matters as it is an issue addressed by the Federal Government.
- Reply from MT's Gov Bullock via postcard:
Thank you for sending your thoughts. I appreciate you taking your time to share your views, and I will certainly keep them in mind as I continue to work hard on behalf of all Montanans.
- Receipt confirmation from registered letter to Gov. Martinez.
I find it intriguing* how the CO letter says that the matter was a federal matter when what I sent was very, very careful to frame it in terms of the State. (*Intriguing in that morbid way like how Congress does this by passing off responsibility for unpopular policies to the Executive, the Judicial, or other entities like the Federal Reserve.)

I dunno about TX, but Brewer in AZ would never go for it. She’s not a conservative.

I recently wrote of *our* Governor,Osama Obama’s good pal and fellow affirmative action officeholder,”Coupe Deval” Patrick...and I got a form letter from his office calling me a creepy a$$ cracker.

That'd be rather blunt instead of the usual politician-speak littered with weasel-words and non-statements.

It seems to me that it would be complementary and perhaps even more likely to succeed if measures were undertaken which could be launched by a handful of staunchly anti-amnesty legislators in some key states, measures that are clearly within the powers reserved to the states underr the Constitution such as the power of states to enact fair trade laws and to enact measures under the traditional police powers of the states to protect the health of their citizens.
I know one of you at least has already done this but if you go via Google's search engine to keep-the-republic.blogspot.com you will find descriptions of such measures. If the measures set out there were pushed by a handful of legislators in a few states I believe that there would be a rising tide of public support.

We need to take action. We can make a difference.

Another approach would be to restrict law enforcement activity to crimes committed against US citizens or legal immigrants or legal visitors to the US.
Perhaps there should not be legal investigation of crimes committed by legal residents or visitors of the US if the victim was illegal. Certainly when illegals commit crimes they can dash back across the border to evade prosecution, then reenter illegally with a different false identity.
People who obey the law should not be at a disadvantage compared to people who disobey the law.

If anyone at FR knows Texas Attorney General Gregg Abbott, Id love for them to see what he thinks of the idea. I love Greg Abbott, but he's ducking the whole subject of illegal immigration. Last I checked, there's nothing on his campaign website about it, which is a very bad sign.
