Fourth Amendment Rally Planned For Fourth of July

Though there won't be loaded rifle-toting protesters traipsing around the National Mall on the Fourth of July anymore, it does looks like there will be a different group of Bill of Rights upholders protesting on Independence Day.

In response to Edward Snowden's massive intelligence leak, supporters of Fourth Amendment rights are banding together to organize massive rallies across the country. The rally, dubbed 'Restore the Fourth,' will be held in major cities across the country on July 4th, including Washington, D.C. Though a time and location for the D.C. rally hasn't been confirmed yet, the event is being planned through Reddit. More information will come soon.

According the the national group's Facebook page, leaders are "a non-partisan group of concerned citizens dedicated to restoring our Fourth Amendment rights." This response comes after National Security Agency contractor Snowden claimed responsibility for leaking details of the agency's surveillance program, revealing the government's possibly unlawful surveillance practices that challenge the right to privacy protected by the Fourth Amendment.

"We come from all across the political spectrum," the Restore the Fourth's Facebook page says, "but what we all have in common is this: The right to be secure in our persons against unlawful search and seizures is a basic human right; a right that has been violated severely by our current government."

They might have trouble obtaining a permit from the Capital Police.

First off, don’t ask for the permit. Make it a “spontaneous” demonstration. Secondly, no arms OF ANY KIND. Third, there is no confrontation. Lastly, read the updated Declaration of Independence that freebilly posted:

Looks like Restore the Fourth is connected to Occupy Wall Street and Huffington Post.

Also I read it started a few days prior to Snowden’s
revelations. Did they know what Snowden was going to do ahead of time?

I can't find anything out about it's founder's yet.

Doesn't seem to have any TeaParty roots.

Anyone else researching this group?

I should have said Occupy Wall Street and Huffington Post support the movement rather than connected to it.

It’s a good cause, but I’d like to know more about the people behind the movement.
