Ammonium nitrate isn’t explosive by itself. it’s just an oxidizer, a fuel must be added in proper proportions.

There, fixed it.
Of course, if you mix oxidizer & fuel in stoichiometric proportions you will have a more efficient explosion, but I don't believe it is too critical.
I had a farmer buddy in the West who used to dig a 6 foot deep hole, dump in ammonium nitrate fertilizer then pour in diesel or kerosine. Add a dynamite detonator and "voila!" a 30 foot crater to catch rain run-off for the cattle.
His fuel proportion was a good bit on the high side of stoichiometric.

We have seen multiple explosions at chem plants.
We have seen wildfires, now being reported as arson.
We have had multiple bomb threats called in.
SEATAC is being crawled upon by police at this hour.
WTH is going on?
