McGreevy did one good thing. He straightened out the mess at the D.M.V. Otherwise he was just a guy in a mens room looking for sex.

Exactly !!

Geographically most of New Jersey is Republican. Even within most of the blue districts on the map there is a sizeable Republican electorate. As you know, we are outnumbered by pockets of high population Democrat urban and suburban enclaves (e.g. Newark, Paterson, Atlantic City, Trenton).

Most Freepers do not know that northwestern New Jersey is represented by one of the most conservative members of the House of Representatives, Scott Garrett (0% NARAL rating, 100% NRLC rating, 100% Christian Coalition rating, A rating from NRA).

I get sick of some of the shallow NJ bashing on this site. Especially in the wake of Sandy. Ignorant comments like the NJ shore deserved what we got because we voted for Obama when it is a fact that the two hardest hit counties (Monmouth & Ocean) both were won easily by McCain/Palin and Romney Ryan.

There is a reason President Obama had his Sandy rally in Asbury Park. because it is the only sizeable Democrat area on the whole Jersey shore besides Atlantic City.

40 points and 150 pounds, the gov's tummy staples should have been put over his lips.

If this fat slob is the gop pick in 2016 I'm voting for the real communist, hildabitch.

If we're gonna get into a shooting fight, I want to be able to still see the sight picture and squeeze off a couple.

Another day, another Christie headline. Who’s paying the msm to use him to distract from the WH scandals?

I think he’s gonna be Hillary’s VP in 2016.

There is already a “mediagasm” over the possibility of a “bipartisan” ticket.

NJ Fatboy will go for it figuring he’ll be the perfect age to be POTUS after her thighness is done.

Here is your future, America:

Team Clinton will eliminate Obama in 2015. 1) He humiliated Hillary! 2) He should be getting Bill his coffee. 3) Hillary! needs a national crisis like November 1963-November 1964 to win a big victory.

The hit will be done in a way to implicate Republicans, rural whites, and gun owners.

The resulting social chaos will throw the GOPe into even more craven whimpering and cowering. The authorities will allow a pogrom against rural whites and Republicans before a crackdown involving militarized Homeland Security assets.

“In the spirit of unity and healing” Hillary! will pick that prominent Republican, Chris Christie, as her running mate and announce that he will be put in charge of “commonsense gun control”, given his terrific record on that vital issue in NJ.

It’s interesting how sometimes there are coattails are sometimes there aren’t. Ike 1952 versus Ike 1956.

I guess it depends on a lot of factors.

In this case a lot of straight up democrats are voting for Fat boy in what looks like a virtually uncontested reelection ala Weld in MA 1994, they won’t vote Republican for state legislature. Did Weld have any coattails that year?

Weld literally did nothing to help the MA GOP. He was running against his then-wife’s cousin (Mark Roosevelt). Although they both came from the anti-Conservative RINO clique (or rather, I consider them both to be Democrat agents), Weld didn’t want Willard winning the Senate seat because it would’ve stolen the spotlight from him.

Weld swept in enough seats in 1990 (although to the point, it was an anti-Democrat/Dukakis backlash) that the GOP came within competitive control of the Senate (for the first time since the 1950s). But rather than build on it, it was pissed away. In fact, all the gains in that body were wiped out by the ‘92 midterms (from 8 seats to 16 in ‘90 back to 9 in ‘92). In ‘94, they gained all of ONE seat, and in ‘96, slipped down to 7 and has never been as high since.

As for the House, only 6 seats were added in 1990 (technically insignificant - they’d have needed 32 seat gains just to match the Senate %). 4 seats were lost in ‘92. As for ‘94 ? They gained just ONE seat in the House, just like the Senate. To say that was embarrassing was an understatement.

Worse, yet, the GOP only barely was able to cling to the two U.S. House seats they won in 1992. Those were gone by ‘96. Weld was so bored in Boston that when he didn’t get the Senate seat, he was looking for any way out (which led to the spectacular bitch-slapdown of Weld for Ambassador to Mexico by Jesse Helms. I was never more proud of a Senator than I was of Helms at that moment. He not only stopped Hillary’s good buddy, but silenced that fraud Lugar who was hoping to push Weld through. Absolutely magnificent).

Yeah I didn’t think so.

And unfortunately I doubt Tubby will deliver control on maps which I assume are rat friendly (is the Senate up). Hopefully we’ll gain more than ONE seat though.

That huge majority from the early 90’s looks so far away it may as well have been the 1890’s.
