Graham warns fellow Republicans: Without immigration bill, GOP to lose in 2016

Republicans are "in a demographic death spiral" and will fail in their effort to win the presidency if the party blocks an immigration overhaul, a leading GOP senator said Sunday.

Sen. Lindsey Graham, the South Carolina Republican who helped write a bipartisan immigration bill under debate in the Senate, said conservatives who are trying to block the measure will doom the party and all but guarantee a Democrat will remain in the White House after 2016's election.

A Democrat also involved in developing the proposal, Sen. Robert Menendez of New Jersey, went a step further and predicted "there'll never be a road to the White House for the Republican Party" if immigration overhaul fails to pass.

"...number one priority is establishing “Real” “Airtight” border security and the other number one priority is that no Illegal immigrant will ever be granted USA citizenship or voting rights. Yes.....they be be legalized, permanent workers and residents that pay all USA taxes.....but no path to citizenship and voting rights ever."

Soooo many Americans feel this way..!!

Senator Lindsey Graham, R-SC, says the Senate's chance of passing a budget deal hinges on one thing: its success in passing immigration reform. I am so very tired of watching government waste, fraud and misuse of our tax $$$ to wit: President Obama and his family will be going to Africa later this month. But the trip won't be cheap; it's expected to cost American taxpayers $60 to $100 million. I know immigration is important however, cleaning up our government wast & fraud before we start to add problems to it would go a long way for any budge.

Gramnesty must be parroting what Schumer whispered in his ear.

Gramnesty bought it.

McCain bought it.

Flake bought it.

Rubio bought it.

==

Schumer’s laughing all the way to the voting booths.

Exactly the opposite of the truth.... that is, if the Republicans can ever win again . . . .

I tend to agree with this; but with the (very important!) caveat that an immigration bill must be accompanied by a provision that requires strict border control first.

It matter little what happens on the border if you massively increase legal immigration. For example there is a provision in this bill that allows those ALREADY deported and living outside the USA to apply for amnesty! So really the border issue is window dressing being crafted to hustle conservatives.

Schumer is trying to do the 1965 immigration bill on steriods here. Increase legal immigration so much it shifts the electorate to the left. Most troubling is that it seems that Graham and the beltway GOP want that also.

Graham seems unaware of the way politics works in this country.

A quick reminder ~ there's a thing called 'the single member district'. Representatives, Senators, state legislators, city councilmen, county councilmen, sheriffs and judges are elected from single districts.

That means that for each and every politician in the country his best shot of winning is to assemble a coalition that can get him 50%+1 votes!

That number assures victory.

Thomas Jefferson was the first major political figure to recognize the math behind victory. He formed the Democratic-Republican party. Within about 3 elections he'd exterminated the Federalist party.

Eventually the Whig party was formed. They went after voters the same way and added a program of public works to the mix to attract voters who wanted roads, canals, port facilities and later on, railroads!

A second element in Jefferson's scheme of electoral victory was to identify the voters predisposed to voting for Democratic-Republican candidates long before the election time.

He then used the campaigns to rouse his followers to action and to denounce the opposition for its failures.

Obviously with two parties vying for a 50%+1 victory, they have to both become coalition parties, made up of a variety of groups.

Over time as a coalition partner begins to feel mistreated or deprived of their fair share of party offices, or nominations, the coalition may become dissatisfied and move to the other party!

In our time white Southerners moved to the Republicans; black Southerners moved to the Democrats; Catholics split in two with active, practicing, devout Catholics becoming Republicans and those who were less active, practicing or devout, gravitating toward the godless Democrats.

The Lutherans, as a broad group, have split similarly, as have the Episcopals (to some degree a leftover Federalist faction).

In earlier times other movements and shifts happened, including the movement of all Abolitionists to the Republican party, along with most of the Northern Whigs.

Lindsay Graham and the Democrats imagine that ALL the Hispanics will acrete to the Democrat party. Yet, that belief requires that you also believe Hispanics will accept traditional Democrat leadership groups ~ black politicians, Jewish politicians, white union politicians!

It could be the Hispanics will want THEIR OWN leadership group. In which case they will DISPLACE existing Democrat leadership groups leaving those factions in the gutter outside traditional politics.

So, let's say you're a Democrat politican who's just been booted out by the HIspanics? What do you do?

Or, better yet, let's say you are an Hispanic who went with the Democrats because they promised so much of what you think you want but no matter how hard you work you can't climb the ladders to get a party leadership position, and certainly not a try at a run for the county council or even the school board?

As has been the history in America, those who are disposessed by the group already in power will go to the other party!

Some politicians are motivated by their ideology, and some are motivated by their interest in power. My money is on politicians going for the golden ring no matter how they gotta' do it.

These RINOs are buying what Schumer is selling because they don’t want to run or govern as conservatives. They would rather have Democrats in power than be called on to vote conservative. Look at Snowe, she quit rather than make some tough votes for Team GOP.

Of course the future belongs to the party that can win Hispanics! After all, Hispanics are much more fertile than the gay men who lead the GOP.

We lost 2012 and you did nothing Graham to help with a victory. We needed you to attack Obama relentlessly. You did not. So, now you are telling us to legalize/reward illegal behavior and that will lead to victory. Yeah, that's the ticket to victory. Stand for nothing and you will get nothing.

How about attacking Obama for spending money teaching Mexicans in Mexico how to sign up for food stamps?

You are useless Graham.

I think we should grant citizenship to all 116 million Mexicans. That should make Mexico part of the U.S.

There is prime beachfront property and mineral wealth.

Their drug cartels already own our government, i.e. Fast and Furious.

I was inside the beltway last week. Most I talked to were totally delusional. There never was a recession in DC with Uncle Sugar pumping out money and jobs. It is a shocking thing to see up close when you don’t see it all the time.

True. Personally, the GOP, as a conservative force, is already dead. Most of the Republicans now are like Graham, a beltway democrat with an “R” behind their name.

There are a few that are trying to fight the good fight but when their own party takes the liberal angle, they are drowned out.

As many have said before, I haven’t left the Republican party, the Republicans have left me and what I hold valuable. As Conservatism dies, so dies Western civilization .

If Romney gets 70% of the “Hispanic” vote he still loses the 2012 election. Why is this fact lost on these losers?

And even if Republicans gained any Hispanic votes by appeasing to them, they'll lose many more votes of people who are opposed to such appeasement.

That is not a winning strategy.

kingu: “Ahh, yes, hunting the elusive Obama fence sitter who agrees with the GOP on every matter except for amnesty for illegal aliens. They are just crying out for the GOP to finally approve such legislation so that they can come back to the GOP.”

I got a good laugh on that one. Yeah. Hispanics can’t wait to flock to the GOP. LOL!

The GOP will never win the presidency. If by some miraculous intervention from God and the next GOP Presidential nominee is a tea party Constitutional Republic type who supports the Constitution and God's intervention also includes Him throwing a monkey wrench into the democrat's giant illegal fraudulent voter base and their intrusive psychological profiling (using all the illegal data they have been collecting for years) in order to brainwash and mislead their supporters, a candidate running on the Republican ticket can win.

But it will not be a win for the GOP, it will be a win for the People and our Constitutional Republic.

The elites at the GOP would rather a satan inspired democrat win than a Patriotic American.

To Graham and the other pathetic sycophants "running" the GOP putting out this weak way the GOP can win [Not!] it's SOP for the slide into oblivion for the Greatest Nation on Earth.

An outcome being pushed by both groups, Siamese twins of politics: GOPe/democrats (dumb and dumber)
