It is home to 361 species of vascular plants, a project that has spanned some 25 years. It has woodlands of several types, chaparral, conifer forest, and Santa Cruz Sandhill habitat. There are university professors in restoration ecology, botany, geology, and forestry who have driven hundreds of miles just to see it.
