Is Scott Walker the GOP's Sleeper Presidential Candidate?
National Journal ^ | June 17, 2013 | Beth Reinhard

Posted on 06/17/2013 6:02:28 AM PDT by libstripper

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker polls near the bottom of would-be presidential contenders. Unlike potential rivals, you won't find him on the cover of Time magazine or slow-jamming the news with comedian Jimmy Fallon.

But he's a conservative Republican who won election in a blue state, survived a brutal recall campaign, and now posts approval ratings over 50 percent. A budget-slashing chief executive and son of a Baptist minister who straddles the fiscal and social conservative camps. A proven fundraiser who has put his thumb in the eye of President Obama and Big Labor.

So far Walker hasn't gotten himself involved with any political Tar Babies and has done a really great job of advancing the cause. Given the terrific recall battle he fought and won with the unions and DemonCraps, it's also hard to see how he could have any damaging dirty laundry that hasn't come out. He's my guy right now.

We need to replace the current “karl rove” GOP.

This means, we need numbers of qualified, inspired alternatives.

We need all the tea party gang to start testing out their wings.

America needs help. Now.

He isn’t vetted on the bedeviling issues. Just because he avoided them doesn’t pass the test of where does he stand. Look what some people THOUGHT about Paul Ryan and look how that has turned out the more issue events unfold and the more we find out where he’s trying to go.

Reince Prebus? I don’t think we knew a whole lot about him, before he became RNC Chair, did we?

Although I love 'em both ideologically, Walker has the same problem as Sarah Palin....neither emits the "gravitas" of a president and a world leader, unfortunately.

He’s doing fine in Wisconsin and needs to keep doing it in Wisconsin for a few more years.

That's why I said, "He's my guy right now." Los of vetting to be done before any final decision.

it's also hard to see how he could have any damaging dirty laundry that hasn't come out.

It doesn't have to exist... the left will invent it, making the election all about Walker defending himself.

I forgot about him ... I like him too.

But, will he leave a successful governorship to tackle presidential campaigning/politics?

We sure need a fighter right now.

He’s running virtually unopposed so it would be foolish to take him out of office now.

There is no way the GOPe would let Walker, Palin, Cruz or any other Conservative get the nomination.

From what I know *now* about Walker, I’d enthusiastically support him.

The problem with these promising governors from blue states is, we tend to find out nasty things about them as time goes on. They turn out to be gun grabbers, baby killers, fag lovers, etc.

Ref: Chris Christie. I applauded him when he was battling the teachers in NJ. I liked his no-BS straight talking style. I thought he had national potential. But knowing what I know now I wouldn’t let that fat SOB clean my toilet, let alone run my country.

Back to Walker: I’m afraid he won’t make the initial cut for the silliest of reasons: he has no college education. *I* don’t care... *you* don’t care... and considering our “success rate” with ivy-league-educated bozos like Odingo, you’d think we’d view Walker’s lack of “formal” education as a PLUS.

But I GUARANTEE you that if he gets past square one, this IS the cudgel with which the MSM will beat him mercilessly into non-contention. Hide and watch.

FRegards

The only thing the GOPe hate more than liberals are conservatives. The second one of them announces their candidacy, the usual suspects will begin bringing up reasons why they “can’t possibly win”.

Chris Christie is the anointed one. He’s been “chosen” by the Bushes, Roves and other GOPe’s. Anyone who dares challenge their decision will be shot at with both barrels.

"What the hell is a Reince Prebus?"

It's like a normal prebus, only smaller.

If Walker is that good you can be sure of one thing: that the GOP will be too stupid to nominate him.

“neither emits the “gravitas” of a president and a world leader”

Look where gravitas has got us. I’ll take a “gravitas-less” Palin or Walker any day.
