Report: McCain, Rubio Got Fox News On Board For Immigration Reform

A trio of Republicans in the so-called Gang of Eight huddled with leading figures at Fox News Channel on the bipartisan effort in the Senate to reform the nation's immigration system, according to a piece published in this week's issue of The New Yorker.

The story, written by Ryan Lizza, indicated that Sens. John McCain (R-AZ), Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Lindsey Graham (R-SC) had discussions with "top hosts" at the conservative cable news network, including Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity and Neil Cavuto, all of whom are " now relatively sympathetic to the Gang’s proposed bill."

Let me rephrase. I see no consistent pro-amnesty message on that channel. I don't see a patterm. Cavuto had on DeMint yesterday to talk about it.

I didn't disagree. But I thought you, as an engineer like me, might prefer a logically simpler expression like "Not all coverage on that channel is pro-amnesty."

I may be one of the most ignorant posters on this board on the subject of Fox News because I no longer have cable. From what I read here, I could say that the pro-amnesty message has gained ground on Fox since I watched it, but maybe anti-amnesty points of view have also increased.

and to be fair I only do limited viewing of FNC myself.
Hannity did a Rubio-immigration Townhall I watched some of, It was no love in on for amnesty but then again Rubio was treated with kid gloves and the points he was challenged with were not the strongest(not the ones I would use) .

Rub’s non-factual pie in blue sky talking points countered them easily.

Its hard for me to be sure that apparent ineptness is treason.

I think Hume and Kristal are pretty pro-amnesty.

Krystal is no surprise. If Hume is on the amnesty side now, that could be a very important nail in Fox's coffin. I don't remember Hume taking one side or another in 2007, but his tough questions toward the pro-amnesty panelists, and his pained expressions at what they were saying, made me suspect that he was more on our side than not.

It's a little difficult to read Hume, because he is not on camera as much as before.

Ineptness WRT amnesty is closely related to "going with the flow."
