Rohrabacher: Boehner 'should be removed as Speaker' if he moves Senate immigration bill
The Hill ^ | 6/17/13 | Jonathan Easley

Posted on 06/17/2013 5:51:12 PM PDT by jimbo123

Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-Calif.) warned Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) would face a conference revolt that could threaten his Speakership if he allows a House vote on the immigration bill presently being debated in the Senate.

Conservatives have been pressuring Boehner to adhere to the unwritten “Hastert Rule” — named after former Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.) — that says no bill should come to the House floor unless it has the backing of a majority of a chamber's majority party.

Rohrabacher said if Boehner moves forward with a vote on immigration reform without a Republican majority, it would be a “betrayal” of his party.

-snip-

“Rubio is so confused and so mixed up I think that he has given up his rightful place to advise any of us in Washington what to do, and certainly given up any right to be trusted by the American people,” he said. “It was over and over, contradiction after contradiction, lie after lie.”

The country would improve overnight if that were to happen.

Rush touched on the immigration bill in a manner that I hadn’t considered today. His assertion is that Rubio et al are simply following the marching orders of the large Republican donors: Adelson, Koch, etc. This makes a lot of sense. The GOPe has become nothing more than the party of large corporate interests that are in bed with the government (just like GE, and many others that appear to tilt left) and happen to share our views from time to time. The Republican party is no longer the Conservative and / or Libertarian ally. In this perspective, it makes a lot of sense. Rush didn’t take the final jump in the thought process - demonstrating the importance of developing a third party to represent Americans. None the less, the GOP, Rubio, Paul, Graham, and the rest can all go to hell - they sold us all out for campaign funds and a promise of future monetary support to further their own selfish interest. FOAD!!

Rohrbacher is right. Boehner is OBAMA - one big @ss mistake America, just like the chump that Boehner has been giving political BJs to for last 21/2 years. If he can’t stop this, he should be unceremoniously tossed out on his crybaby @ss.

The OBL is running this kabuki dance for all of us. There is simply far too much money at stake to bury this garbage now.

Reps are going to have to choose between the OBL or the citizens that cast the votes for them.

I agree with this. Rubio has sold out to what many of us dislike now about most of these republicans.

How about removing Boehner BEFORE any vote?

Always in retreat. Always back on their heels. Republicans are such wusses.

Prevent any vote: remove Boehner.

We need to remove this liberal from being the Speaker anyway, no mater what he dose or doesn’t do.

Haven't you heard the terminology being echoed through the halls of all the multi-levels of government... "PUBLIC/PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP!"

What it really means, as Rush so ably pointed out is "CRONY CAPITALISM!"

During my time in elective office in the last half of the 90's it was heard more that the liberal cry of "CRYING UN-MET NEED!"

Nothing on this earth sucks like a "PUBLIC/PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP!" The PUBLIC tries to out-suck the PRIVATE and the PRIVATE in turn tries desperately to get all that taxpayer money back!!!

Round and round it goes and where it stops... nobody knows!!!

If Schumer likes this bill, that tells me everything I need to know. I think he's rolled Rubio. And Rubio still doesn't know what hit him.

Time for Rubio to do a little honest soul-searching, it seems to me.

Whatever the case, if Boehner lets the Senate bill proceed in the House without GOP majoritarian support, what was the point of the GOP winning the election to the House?

Aren't elections supposed to have "consequences?"

Whatta wimp! Or Is Boehner simply clueless? If either is the case, he should be removed from the Speakership on grounds that he's simply not up to the job.

I agree 100%. Not many will. People don’t want to admit he’s a traitor with the rest of them. It does presuppose a level of malevolence and corruption that I understand people don’t want to believe. Normalcy bias ect...

I was convince in ‘96 after hearing him go off the rails with his 10 point kook test and shrill bouts of screaming at Buchanan and Keyes. Right around then I believe he was offered a deal that would enable him to be the gatekeeper and purveyer of the bookends of acceptable conservative thought.
I don’t have proof but probably ushered into the insider club - CFR, Trilaterals - on the hidden membership roster.

Amnesty - the end of the Republic - over and done. The population should be marching with pitchforks to D.C.
Most of us can probably barely get up the courage to express our feelings to anyone at work - school or anyplace there might be an HR department for fear of offending a preferred minority class.

That is an incredible video. Community organizing on steroids funded by the federal govt. Has this been in a thread by itself? It should be.

“Rush touched on the immigration bill in a manner that I hadn’t considered today. His assertion is that Rubio et al are simply following the marching orders of the large Republican donors:”

Rush is not on to anything new, so don’t give him credit.

Anyone who has been the least bit involved in the immigration battle knew years ago that Republicans were in the tank with the cheap labor, big business cabals that funded their campaigns.

The Chamber of Commerce has written most of the amnesty legislation for years now, including the current bill. The Wall Street Journal has been for amnesty forever. Do a websearch for the 2007 video of all the WSJ editorialists guffawing over the ignorant bigoted racist rubes who were against illegal immigration.

With few exceptions - like a Cruz - the elected Republicans care only about getting re-elected. America could become a Third World hellhole and it wouldn’t bother them, as long as they’re doing well.

Maybe we have covered this but I am still confused:

1) Boehner and company do not allow a vote on the senate bill but they create create and pass a GOP “immigration reform.” Let’s assume for now that it has no path-to-citizenship. Anti-amnesty forces celebrate a great victory.

2) The senate sends its bill and delegates, and the house sends its bill and delegates, to the bicameral conference. Boehner makes sure there are plenty of traitors among the house entourage. The senate group passes the merged bill, and so does the house group. (Note that you are not going to see this on CSPAN, and very few voters will pay attention).

3) The merged bill goes to each house for a vote. I’m not sure Boehner has to bring it up for a vote but I bet he would. Last change to vote it down but, again, the RINOs bail out Obama.

4) Obama signs and the left celebrates. And rightly so. This is the biggest victory ever for them, and the GOP helped. Boehner says he tried his best,

Or better yet, does Rubio go to the GOP House caucus and convince them that they must accept a Senate bill, much like Obama did in 2010 with Obama-care and Pelosi Dems??

Rubio :”Come on guys, I am as conservative as you are. Don't you hear me criticize Obama? Believe me he will hate this bill and after we pass it we can dare him to veto it and he will be in a corner. Then our immigration problem will be solved for once and for all”

Then 2016 Rubio gets the nomination.
