Romney’s Revenge
National Review ^ | June 18, 2013 | National Review

Romney said his Bay State health reforms weren’t necessarily suited to other states. Few listened.

By Avik Roy

During the 2012 presidential campaign, Mitt Romney maintained that the health-reform law he signed in Massachusetts was not the same as Obamacare. “Our plan was a state solution to a state problem,” Governor Romney insisted. He was trying to fix Massachusetts’ uniquely broken insurance market, he said; Obamacare, by contrast, was a “a power grab . . . a one-size-fits-all plan.” Nobody took him seriously — not conservatives, and not liberals. But today, as the nation braces for health insurance “rate shock,” Romney’s critique of Obamacare is ringing true. Call it Mitt Romney’s revenge.

I don’t even want to see or hear that name anymore. For five years straight all we heard was Romney and frontrunner. He was the worst possible candidate and we all knew he would lose. So sick of him and anything relating to him. And I live in MA so I’ve had to deal with him longer than others.

A very balanced and fair analysis. IOW, RomneyCare was a lesser Fuster Cluck to fix a greater Fuster Cluck put in place by his predecessors.

Are you one of the ones who stayed home so we could have Obama as president?

I supported Romney.

Now I strongly oppose everything about him.

Boy Scouts: reverse the election.

Scr@w Romney!!

(sorry, but I’m a bit angry about that)

Our plan was a state solution to a state problem,”

So MA needed a solution to kill more babies at the taxpayers expense? And what does romneycare have to do with romney being the first governor to approved same sex marriage for the state of MA?

There is no revenge like God's. Hope he's ready for it and all those who supported him with their vote.

Romney is as liberal as they come and a damned liar to boot. I can’t help it that you weren’t paying attention. Go b*tch and whine somewhere else.

And we’re going to get more Romneys and McCains until the cross-party voting in the primaries is abolished. The dems come out in droves to pick our candidate for us, always the weakest candidate on the roster.

Gawd. Go pound sand.

Romney was the intellectual father of 0bamaCare.

Romney’s aides were in the White Hut designing 0bamaCare.

Don’t disown your bastard son, Mitt / NR / GOPe.

it is likely he was one who stayed home.

fwiw by the time the general election is here, the time for complaining about the nominee has passed.

one must take action during the primary to influence nominee outcome.

complaining after the fact and sitting out so a true America-hating marxist could be elected is effing stupid - not that I’m saying the poster in question did that - but some did and admit it here.

i’m no romney fan but he would sure as hell be better that what we have. no, i did not vote for him in the primary but i sure as hell did in the general

no point asking that question - those who were dumb enough to do so by definition could never admit they did wrong, even with that thing occupying the White House now. Their only hope is to ignore the question so as to ignore their portion of the responsibility.

While I agree that Massachusetts is different than Tennessee, I think that’s why Romney lost the election, not why he would have won it. Romney tried to appeal to moderate to liberals during the actual campaign, with his pro-gay, fuzzy abortion, and quasi right to arms rhetoric. He pirouetted in full tutu around Benghazi when a conservative would have hammered it.

He lost millions of religious conservatives and social conservatives with that foolishness, and he pretty much has his own strategy to blame for his loss.

We should never nominate anyone who starts out forfeiting his own state. That’s why Nixon should not have chosen Lodge or Agnew.
