Lemonade Stand Near Westboro Baptist Raises $16,000 (5yr old Jayden called 'satanic liar')

When life gives you lemons A 5-year-old girl hoping to add a little sugar to the bitter Westboro Baptist Church set up a lemonade stand outside its front doors not to antagonize but to spread peace. What she got was harassment from its adult members calling her among names a "satanic liar" — as well as more than $16,000 raised from supporters across the U.S. "Jayden and I went out there to raise money for Planting Peace," her father, Jon Sink, told WBTV.

The purpose was to "spread love, to spread compassion," he said. But with her blond hair pulled back in pigtails, the pint-sized tot and her handmade sign were just 20 feet away from the group's front door.

Her father said Jayden doesn't understand the church's controversial messages that target homosexuals — including the relentless picketing of soldiers' funerals and horrific events like the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. She immediately wanted to spread joy and help out he said. The hate-spewing Bible thumpers are less than thrilled. "*WHO* let nasty f*** get hands on this poor child?" the group tweeted in response to her efforts for which they crudely blamed homosexuals.

"LOL it doesn't matter how 'cute' a satanic liar is! They are STILL a satanic liar" they wrote again.

Along with the online rants, the group posted on a sign outside their compound reading, "Lemonade won't cool any tongues" following one of their characteristically obscene messages.

Among the supporters was a soldier who stepped on the church's property to snap pictures of Jayden's stand. “There were profanities,” he said of the group’s reaction which he doesn't think Jayden witnessed. “A group of about 15 soldiers showed up and one of the members of the [church] called him a b*stard. Something along those lines.”

Their days are numbered. They will not enjoy the afterlife.

I don’t think a 5 year-old needs to be near the crazies. She is ultimately going to see or hear something too scary for age 5.

Hillarious.

I so despise the WBC. They’ve done more to harm the USA’s view of Christians than pretty much anyone.

Indeed, they are. WBC preacher Fred Phelps was Al Gore's sponsor and got him going.

The leader of Westboro ran for public office, at least once maybe more, as a Democrat.

Oh, com'mon - those people have probably never cracked open a Bible, and only held one as a prop.

The little girl is likely already aware of how nuts these people are.

We have hear about Equity house before on freerepublic.

From their website.

For too long, the Westboro Baptist Church has been targeting the LGBTQ community with messages of hate and discrimination. Often, protesting American soldiers’ funerals and organizations that support equality. This faction preaches extremism in our communities and directly targets our youth. To combat their messages of hate and to support equality and anti-bullying initiatives in schools and in our community, Planting Peace has established the Equality House in Topeka, KS. Located directly across from the Westboro Baptist Church, the House is a symbol of equality, peace, and positive change. The house, which is painted the colors of the Pride flag, will serve as the resource center for all Planting Peace equality and anti-bullying initiatives and will stand as a visual reminder of our commitment, as global citizens, to equality for all. We invite you to support our movement and encourage you to donate today to these equality and anti-bullying initiatives. - See more at: http://www.plantingpeace.org/equality.htm#sthash.U74lJKlG.dpuf

Fred Phelps was a long time democrat, who became involved in the civil rights movement. If you Google his name alongside Al Gore’s, you will see them together...I believe this is the 1992 presidential primary, and Phelps hosted Gore.

Phelps has also run for governor of Kansas as a Democrat.

Naturally, Alan Colmes used to have his daughter on regularly, to illustrate what a fringe right wing nut sounded like.

Wow, it’s like Syria.

I don’t care who wins, just as long as it is long and bloody battle.

***

It’s appalling that these loons can call themselves “Baptists” and a “church.” They are neither.

Yes. Westboro Church is a group of lawyers who harrass conservative groups in order to elicit a response, then sue. It’s all about money.

That’s right. Kind of like Bill Clinton holding his big bible outside church. Prop only.

That's OK, so was Gov Rick Perry, though he seems to want to forget it.
