Trayvon's family has "every confidence" George Zimmerman will be convicted, family attorney says

The family of slain Florida teen Trayvon Martin has "every confidence" that a jury will convict George Zimmerman, the former neighborhood watch captain accused in his shooting death, a family attorney said.

Martin's family, including his mother Sybrina Fulton and father Tracy Martin, have attended jury selection proceedings in the Seminole County criminal courthouse since they launched more than a week ago. Attorneys in the case have been whittling down a pool of potential jurors, questioning them on their exposure to news reports in the high-profile case.

---snip---

Answers from potential jurors have varied widely, from candidates who said they believe Zimmerman was following Martin that evening and confronted the teen to potential jurors who said they have no knowledge of what may have happened.

One potential juror said Martin was "looking for a reason to fight" and "got aggressive."

"[Zimmerman] is just watching out for someone who looks suspicious and this boy is confronted, and he already has drugs in his system or could have been high even then, and he got aggressive," said the candidate, identified as E-81.

The juror said she came to her conclusions based on photos and text messages from Martin's phone, released publicly, that the defense hopes to introduce as evidence as trial.

The photos depict Martin blowing smoke and a hand holding a gun, and the text messages refer to Martin's alleged past fighting. A judge has ruled that while the potential evidence can't be referenced during opening statements, the defense may be able to introduce it at trial if they prove to her its relevance.

"I think it's been a tough week for them - you're hearing people totally mis-characterizing your son, and to sit there and not be able to speak for your child is tough,"(continued)

He will have a real hard time keeping it out during the actual testimony of the police. They will be lead directly into relating WHY they didn’t arrest Mr. Zimmerman at the time and WHY the prosecutors office took so much time to even convene a grand jury or to bring charges.

If he is convicted, I would be very surprised. He also ALREADY has a very good case for an appeal based on this judges biased and indefensible rulings.

If the first trial doesn’t do it, the “justice” department will start another trial. That will hold the riots back for a few months.

You've been lying about him for over a year. It is high time to set the lies straight. I'm sure it has been tough having your agenda exposed.

That ruling is a double edged sword for the prosecution. The second they refer to Trayvon’s character in any way, the defense can rebut with their own evidence as to his character, thereby painting the picture they desire.

“If he’s not convicted, there will be another “Long Hot Summer” of inner city rioting.”

I’ll bet there will be a “shopping spree” either way the verdict goes.

I hope you are right. You certainly have how it should go nailed.

I do think that there will be widespread violence if Zimmerman gets off. The Black Panthers will scream for a race war and the usual famous race baiters will be all over every channel.

I remember on a very small scale, one day in my high school a white kid was sent to the office for getting in a fight with a black kid, and neither ended up getting punished. Afterwards, there was an unofficial "beat up all the white kids" day for no reason. You could just be walking down the hall and get punched. It's gonna be much worse than that after this trial.

It’s not mischaracterizing when we anyone can see the evidence that it is true for themselves. The truth about your punk son hurts, deal with it.

Does trayvon’s family realize what subhuman garbage they are? Zimmerman should sue them and take their HOA settlement.

It's likely pretty well gone already.

In a couple of years, all they'll have left to show for it are some very nice tattoos.

I’m not sure Trayvon’s past matters although everything I’ve read is he acted like a thug. I think the fact he was home and went back out for Zimmerman says a lot. The thing the jury needs to decide is at the moment of the fight, was it self defense, which it sounds it was and was Zimmerman’s level of force justified. It is certainly better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6 but that does not always mean innocence. If the DA really thought Zimmerman was in the wrong, she should have gone for a lesser charge like manslaughter or something.

Something tells me this juror was not selected.

Still think that the state is going to wind up with or trying for a hung jury?

Let’s sit back and see what the jury looks like and what the judge allows in as evidence.

Here’s the list from which they will try to get the jury.

Just out of curiosity, what do you think Zimmerman’s chances are? I know we should wait until the jury is chosen and what Nelson allows, but what’s your personal opinion on the matter?
