After most of the world’s population is wiped off the map by a wayward meteorite or hail of nuclear missiles, the survival of the human race might just depend on a few thousand people huddled in recreational vehicles deep in the bowels of an eastern Kansas mine.

That’s the vision of a California man who is creating what he calls the world's largest private underground survivor shelter, using a complex of limestone caves dug more than 100 years ago beneath gently rolling hills overlooking the Missouri River.

“I do believe I am on a mission and doing a spiritual thing,” said Robert Vicino, who has purchased a large portion of the former U.S. Army storage facility on the southeast edge of Atchison, about 50 miles northwest of Kansas City, Mo. “We will certainly be part of the genesis.”

Before it comes time to ride out Armageddon or a deadly global pandemic, though, Vicino says the Vivos Survival Shelter and Resort will be a fun place for members to take vacations and learn assorted survival skills to prepare them for whatever world-changing catastrophe awaits. …

I'm guessing that you are also an opponent of small pox vaccinations, iceberg alerts, and levees.

Obviously, the developer is a God-fearing man who would bar entrance to his safehold if the Almighty gave a "heads-up" to the Earth's 7 billion inhabitants that the meteor was part of his inscrutible Divine Plan, and that he actually wanted the whole of humanity to stand around like chickens gawping at the sky and suffer annihilation.

When a man puts his full faith in Jesus Christ and is born again he doesn’t live with a spirit of fear...or at least he shouldn’t. He shouldn’t fear men and he sure shouldn’t fear asteroids because he knows his God sovereignly sustains all things with His Word. A true God-fearing man has no reason to fear anyone or anything other than The Lord. Such a man can say with the Apostle Paul, “to live is Christ, to die is gain.” I’m not suggesting a Christian shouldn’t take reasonable precautions or that he should live recklessly, but undue fear is a form of bondage. Our American ancestors understood this in a way modern Christians seem to have forgotten.

Of course it isn’t my place to decide that. Everyone must decide things like that for themselves. If you read what I said, you should have noticed I didn’t even comment on the underground project. I don’t know enough about it to have much of an opinion, so my comment was more of a food for thought comment for like-minded Christians who know Christ is ruling and reigning all things right now at the right-hand of the Father.

I had a client, an atheist, who was a brilliant doctor involved in attempts to dramatically extend human life. Fifteen years ago he told me we were on the cusp of doubling our lifespans. He knew I was a Christian and we had spent time talking about our respective beliefs, so when he told me I would probably live to 150, I suggested his obsession was motivated by his fear of meeting the God he claimed didn’t exist. He laughed at the notion, but it was obvious it rattled him. I enjoyed his reaction.

When I made My earlier comment I had my old client in mind. I also had these Google loons who want to upload human brains. I had those who have themselves preserved cryogenically. “It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.” No amount of burrowing or human engineering will ever change that!
