The Senate is rushing to the finish line on the Gang of Eight bill, setting up a key vote Monday that could clear the way to final passage of the immigration overhaul by the end of next week.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said Friday that his chamber will hold a procedural vote on the border-security agreement crafted by Republican Sens. Bob Corker of Tennessee and John Hoeven of North Dakota on Monday at 5:30 p.m.

The timing meets a goal long set by Senate Democratic leaders to finish working on the bill — a significant rewrite of the nation’s immigration laws — before the July 4 recess.

Members of Congress keep running around and saying, "The impetus for this immigration reform is that we have a broken system." We don't. We have border that hasn't been enforced and secured. That's what's broken. What else is broken is the American people have no trust in the people in Washington to do what they say they're gonna do. In this case, they're not even saying that they're going to do it. There's no trust, and then there's the argument that says people like me are opposed to "reform." We "just don't want reform." Wrong. The people who are against a truly secure border before legalization are the ones who don't want reform. We have a broken system, and it's only broken because the border isn't secure. And the reform that's needed is to secure the border, and people that don't want to do that are the ones who don't want to reform anything. As usual, what's coming out of Washington is 180 degrees wrong. We are the reformers, and the one true reform is fixing the border and then deal with our legal immigration system, which is perfectly fine.

I listened to Betsy McCaughy (??) tear this bill apart, on Mark Levin's show, yesterday. It's nothing but a payback to SEIU (new *citizens* will provide cheap labor for the hospitality industry) and groups like ACORN will roll it out as a "civil rights" department.

It pretty much picks up where OCare left off :(

Low earning AMERICAN workers should be outraged by this bill, as it replaces them with amnestied illegals.

The Gang of Eight (O, what a parcel o’ rogues) don’t want Senators going home to hear from voters over the holiday before the vote. They know, just as they did with ObamaCare, that the people do not want this but they are determined to shove it down our throats, unread and unconsidered, and then swan about like they did something good. Then, too late, they will learn the consequences of what they voted for.
