President Barack Obama intends to nominate two lawyers with government experience to become commissioners on the Federal Election Commission, the agency that oversees and enforces campaign finance laws. One of the nominees would fill a Democratic vacancy on the commission and the other would replace the Republican vice chairman, the White House said.
Obamas nominee to replace Republican Donald F. McGahn is Lee Goodman, who served as a top aide to former Republican Gov. Jim Gilmore of Virginia. Obamas Democratic nominee is Ann Ravel, the chair of the California Fair Political Practices Commission. She would fill the seat vacated earlier this year by Cynthia Bauerly.
If confirmed by the Senate, the FEC would have all of its six commissionersthree Democrats and three Republicans.

It’s amusing, it’s almost as if we’ll be having another election.

The three pubs were told to shut up and sit down, possible closet rats
Jim Gilmore is a big time RINO, that means the lawyer who worked for him should be in the democrat party.
I didn't know that there are a total of six seats on the FEC. (Many, if not most, federal commissions have five members by statute, of which no more than three can be of the same political party. The practical effect is that the party in the White House gets three seats and the opposition two, so the party in the White House in effect controls the whole commission anyhow.)
Remember that the FEC did absolutely nothing to the Obama campaign in 2008, for example, when illegal contributions came in from non-Americans, including two infamous Arab brothers from the terrorist-controlled Gaza Strip. (The contributors cleverly tried to disguise their address by abbreviating "Gaza" as "GA," so as to be mistaken for "Georgia.") And back in the Clinton era, the FEC didn't bother to punish the Clinton campaign when it received illegal contributions from aliens, including Chinese. So political control of the FEC goes along way in protecting the White House from exposure of campaign funding violations.
And in the only reason neither party has put a minor party member of the FEC instead of the enemy is because that minor party member would make rulings in favor of minor parties.
If was a GOP President though I’d put someone registered as a Conservative in New York rather than a rat. Or start a new “party”, or just appoint an “independent”. But that would change the game forever.d put someone registered as a Conservative in New York rather than a rat. Or start a new
