(Reuters) - U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said on Saturday he hoped proposed U.S. talks with the Taliban are put back on track after this week's delays, and warned that a recently opened Taliban office in Qatar may have to close if peace talks do not proceed.
"We need to see if we can get back on track," Kerry told a news conference.

The absurdity of this “threat” is astounding. I would imagine that we already paid for this quasi embassy and by so doing helped to legitimize these thugs.
The Taliban don’t care about peace - they want to survive to rule another day...and if sending some front men to waste the time of our diplomats - so be it...If Kerry was so perceptive - he’d realize that this is the same thing that happened in Vietnam - but for someone too busy earning medals just to throw them away — I guess Kerry missed out!
