Duke needs to double or triple their rates. It’s obvious the protesters voted fo 0.

Our society groans under the increasing weight of the ever growing penumbra.

There are no good guys here. Didn’t the President of Duke Energy support Obama?

This is hilarious, as it shows the bitter, burning hatred of the left, their willingness to hurt others—somehow thinking it will improve their own, pathetic lives, and how their schemes to do this never, ever work.

“Why don’t those filthy rich, eeevil people just agree to be painfully punished and suffer terribly, and still give us stuff for free, instead of avoiding our attacks and still living happy and prosperous lives? DAMN THEM!”

It’s kind of like watching a small boy have a blind temper tantrum, red face and crying, swinging his fists wildly at some adult who has calmly put his hand on their forehead, preventing them from getting in range. Oh, how they curse and give off shrill noises of rage and impotence.

Well how about the fact that NC is paying higher rates, because the Democrats reniged on the loan for the DEM convention on Charlotte- and in return, Obama hired whatshis face from Charlotte?

What interesting bedfellows this mess is making.

DUKE ENERGY raising their rates. Now.... what in the world could have caused that. (not what they CLAIM caused it, but what REALLY CAUSED IT).

Oh.... wait. Here it is. It was the DNC not paying their Bills for the CONVENTION in Charlotte.

(No Honor Among Thieves) 2012 DNC: Nearly $500,000 of Equipment Was Lost or Stolen in Charlotte

"The local host committee for the DNC was tasked with raising roughly $36 million to stage the convention, but the fundraising efforts fell short."

"In May, Duke Energy announced that it would absorb the $10 million line of credit it gave to the host committee. Because the company could claim the loss as a business expense, its shareholders would only cover $6 million of the loan.

ERGO... the 'rate' increase.

A company like DUKE just does not raise rates on a whim. They have to PROVE to the PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION of their state that such rate increases are necessary due to improvements in electric delivery.

Many years go, Louisiana PSC refused to allow our company to raise rates. As a result, there was no money to pay for the upkeep of lines and there were many power outages after every storm.

Tony Ndege, a member of Occupy Winston-Salem, told the demonstrators that every resident has a right to inexpensive, environmentally safe energy.

Obama said his plans would cause rates to skyrocket.

The company will use the money from the rate increase to pay for its new plants that "we don't need and we don't want," Porter said.

Don't want? If they voted for 'we will destroy the coal industry' Obama and Biden, then they wanted this. Replacing coal power plants with gas turbine or nuclear ones costs money. And the power generated costs more money per MW than with a coal plant.

These protestors are likely the ones that voted for this. BTW, there is no constitutional right to cheap energy in the constitution.
