At 5:30 p.m. EDT, the Senate will vote on the Corker-Hoeven Amnesty amendment to the Schumer-Rubio Amnesty bill, S.744. Passage of this amendment could greatly improve the chances of this terrible legislation passing later this week. We need your urgent phone calls to your two U.S. Senators telling them to vote NO on the Corker-Hoeven amendment. Call NOW toll-free at 888-995-8349.

The sponsors of the proposal, along with the Gang of 8, have tried to characterize this amendment as a "border surge" that includes an increase of 20,000 border patrol agents and requirements for DHS to spend billions of dollars of equipment and build 700 miles of fencing along the southern border.

I cannot stand it when they give that “hasn’t taken a position” crap. I tell them that as a Representative of the People, they better darn sure know their position and make sure their staffers know it, as well.

The American people don't want this bill to pass!

The same was true of Obamacare but the Chicago MOB jammed it through and the same is gonna happen here. Whatever enforcement mechanisms in this bill will be IGNORED by Holder, Big Sis, and Zero AND THEN THE GOP WILL CRY FOUL AFTER HAVING VOTED FOR IT.

I see no difference here than with the House passing CR and Debt Ceiling increases and then coming along later and holding an Kabuki theater vote to repeal Oabmare. The game is all set up - what we are supposed to do is sit back and watch or ignor it all. Pay attention to Snowden that is what they want you to do - that is all press kid can talk about today.

Cheerio, you may be right. I've often said that this *amnesty* bill - that has to be passed before we know what's in it - is just a Bill to tie up all of the loose ends they overlooked in 0Care.

BUT, we can't stop fighting. It doesn't hurt to try. It's the least I can do.

Ask her; If someone breaks into her house, how long will it be before she considers them a member of her family.

Heck, ask her if she has a fence! How dare she consider defending “her property” but won’t let the USA defend her own borders.

13 Senators come out against Corker-Hoeven amnesty amendment

Monday, June 24, 2013, 11:58 AM EDT

In a letter addressed to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), the Gang of Eight, and Senators Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) and John Hoeven (R-N.D.), 13 Senators protested the management of the Schumer-Rubio Amnesty bill, S.744. Earlier today, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid filed a motion for cloture on the bill, meaning no more amendments will be voted on unless they’re approved by Sen. Reid.

The Gang of Eight had originally promised an open process that allowed for Members to offer amendments. To date, only nine amendments have been voted on.

The Senators signing the letter, include:

Senators David Vitter (R-La.),
Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa),
Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.),
Dan Coats (R-Ind.),
Jerry Moran (R-Kan.),
Tom Coburn (R-Okla.),
John Boozman (R-Ark.),
Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.),
John Cornyn (R-Texas),
John Thune (R-S.D.),
Pat Toomey (R-Pa.),
Roger Wicker (R-Miss.),
Ron Johnson (R-Wisc.), and Deb Fischer (R-Neb.).

Here’s the text of the letter sent by the above Senators:

Dear Senator Reid:

After repeated promises of a full and open amendment process on the floor, we have had NINE roll call votes on amendments to the Gang of Eight’s 1,076-page immigration bill. NINE. And there is the prospect of a full shut-down of amendment votes after today.

This is deeply, deeply disturbing. It is effectively shutting down the American people’s ability to be heard on this issue through their elected representatives.

It seems that as soon as a path to passing this bill was identified, an already very slow, halting amendment process was purposely interrupted with histrionics and shut down.

Now the Corker-Hoeven amendment has turned into a virtual full substitute for the bill (1,187 pages). Supporters have been collecting yes votes as the price of admission into that back negotiating room, and all other amendments will likely be denied even a vote.

By point of reference, there were 46 roll call votes on floor amendments to the 2007 immigration bill, which was significantly stronger on enforcement.

We believe that there should be, AT A MINIMUM, this same number of roll call votes on serious, contested floor amendments on the Gang of Eight’s immigration bill. This can clearly be accomplished this week with a little leadership and coordination through one or more compact series of 10-minute votes with senators seated at their desks.

Further, we will give our consent to any reasonable consent request if this is assured. This would specifically include replacing the one or two cloture votes and one final passage vote on the bill with one final passage vote with a 60-vote threshold late Thursday, as well as clearing all truly non-controversial amendments.

We urge you to ensure a serious, extensive floor amendment process, which you and the Gang of Eight promised.

Just made calls to my Senators, Murphy and Blumenthal (D-CT).

Call the direct number to their office. Calling the switchboard will result in “all circuits are busy.”

Murphy’s staff actually pretended to care and listen.

Blumenthal’s staff could care less.

Agrred we have to keep the pressure on (and I have made my messages to DC), but have little hope left after Nov 2012 living in a nation of celebutards who vote for Obama Claus. I firmly believe we are already over the cliff.....so what is ne more amnesty among friends.

A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship.
