Gay marriage support costs Republican Sen. Branden Petersen (MN)

State Sen. Branden Petersen’s support of same-sex marriage continues to reverberate in his district.

Last week, his Senate district’s Republican executive committee announced it voted to admonish the first-term senator, who voted last month to legalize same-sex marriage.

DFL Gov. Mark Dayton signed the bill legalizing same-sex marriage last month and Minnesota gay couples can be legally wed in August.

The “no confidence” motion, said several members of the executive committee, came not because Petersen supported legalization, but because of his actions around that decision.

“It wasn’t really his view on the marriage issue, it was just multiple violations of our trust,” said Don Huizenga, SD35 Republicans deputy chair.

In Minnesota? LOL! We have a particularly nasty strain of leftist twits up here. They don’t just drink the Kool-Aid, they make the stuff!

We tried a constitutional amendment prohibiting perverse marriage. It failed. I doubt opponents of the queer marriage law could muster the votes to rescind the law, although I suspect this Republican turncoat will pay a heavy price.

Ready to get fedgov out of the marriage business yet? Or y’all just want to keep fighting for exclusive favors Big Brother does for you at the expense of single people? Nah...keep on begging for extra constitutional favors then bitching when uncle fedgov attaches strings to those favors.

you may be surprised. now that the stories about male on male rape in the military and the report of minors being raped by homosexuals have started comming out, the public would be far more receptive to this.

He’s arrogant and says he will run in 2016. He may need a smackdown - he needs to be made an example of - these liberals posing as R to get in and then doing a switch bait on critical issues. It’s so old a tactic yet it continues,

Are you kidding? The forces behind this abomination couldn’t be happier. This is exactly what they’ve been wanting all along.

And the Minnesota morons who were stupid enough to vote down the amendment aren’t likely to suddenly admit they were wrong.

I angered some liberal friends in Minnesota by predicting that in 5 years polygamy would be legal. There is no argument for gay marriage that cannot be equally made for plural marriage...even SCOTUS Justice Kagin came to that conclusion. I expect that Somali Muslims in Minnesota will soon be petitioning the Legislature or more likely the federal courts to allow the four wives that are permitted by the Koran.

I agree with what you say. The institution of marriage has been largely destroyed, but then I guess the legal recognition is just following the general attitude of society on that score.

I have always felt that a law like this would not be passed until the will to fight it was gone in a sufficient number of people. The passage of the law is merely a re-affirmation of what society wants as a whole.

The majority view doesn’t count if those in the majority let it happen by taking themselves out of the fight.

Of course it did. But you’ll notice that Frankenweenie is a US senator nonetheless.

“It wasn’t really his view on the marriage issue, it was just multiple violations of our trust,” said Don Huizenga, SD35 Republicans deputy chair.

I read the whole article but the above isn't clear, other than that he did make his pro-homo marriage views clear early on.

If a lot of Rs are for homo marriage (and this appears to be the case), then they have left us behind. Hope he loses in the next election.

They reject the Bible so they are without a moral roadmap. They can rationalize just about anything.
